To Provide for a method of orderly transition from the cid salary ' e'dule°"to"the new salary schedule , the following shall apply: I. Any employee whose base salary under a pre- vious salary schedule is greater than the base salary provided in the schedule contained in this ordinance shall continue to receive the previous base pay. II. Any employee whose base salary falls within the appropriate salary-range or ni`s--classification shall be paid at the next higher step in the range . The employee shall remain at this level until his next anniversary date , at which time he shall advance to the next higher step . III. Any employee whose base salary is less than the appropriate salary range for his classification shall receive not less than the minimum rate for his classification. The employee shall be paid the rate within the salary schedule according to tenure in the particular classification. C. Range numbers prefaced by D and E are to be considered as minimum and maximum salary ranges within which the Mayor may set the salary to be • paid an employee. •• Section 3 : All part-time, temporary employees , or day laborers , shall be paid at the following rate of pay, as per Section I, Ordinance No. 20-69 : $1. 65 to $2 . 75 per hour
