ORDINANCE NO. f 2- 7 AN ORDINANCE of the City of Everett, Washington providing for the acquisition of right-of-way for street purposes from certain parcels of property, providing for the authorization of the City Attorney to initiate proceedings for condemnation, appropriation, taking and damaging of land and other property necessary therefor; declaring the necessity therefor; and providing for payment thereof. WHEREAS, it was deemed necessary and advisable in Ordinance No. 4192 (effective date December 26, 1966) that a substantial number of arterial and main streets throughout the City of Everett, Washington be improved by widening, paving, and channelization, by the acquisition and installation of traffic signals, signs and central devices, and that certain rights-of-way necessary to carry out such program of street improvements be acquired; and WHEREAS, it was deemed by said ordinance that, among others, the City should improve the following named avenues, boulevards, lanes and drives by the acquisition, construction and installation of the following described improvements: "22. Madison Avenue and Glenwood Avenue - Evergreen Way to Mukilteo Boulevard, widen and pave for future anticipated heavier traffic flow. 23. Beverly Lane and Dogwood Drive - Casino Corner to Mukilteo Boulevard, widen and pave to provide smoother traffic flow and improve alignment of the intersection of Dogwood Drive and Mukilteo Boulevard. " WHEREAS, the City of Everett, in direct dealings with certain land owners, has been unable to acquire a certain portion of land necessary to the completion of the above improvements because of a valuation dispute, and WHEREAS, the City of Everett must now begin condemnation proceedings both to acquire the necessary right of way and to settle the valuation question. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1: The public safety, necessity, and convenience demand, and the City Council so finds in conjunction with Ordinance No. 4192 (effective date December 26, 1966) that the streets hereafter described be improved by widening, paving and channelization together with the acquisition and installation of any necessary traffic control devices: 1. Madison Avenue and Glenwood Avenue - Evergreen Way to Mukilteo Boulevard, widen and pave for future anticipated heavier traffic flow. 2. Beverly Lane and Dogwood Drive - Casino Corner to Mukilteo Boulevard, widen and pave to provide smoother traffic flow and improve alignment of the intersection of Dogwood Drive and Mukilteo Boulevard.
