ORDINANCE NO. f 2- 7 <br /> AN ORDINANCE of the City of Everett, Washington <br /> providing for the acquisition of right-of-way for <br /> street purposes from certain parcels of property, <br /> providing for the authorization of the City Attorney <br /> to initiate proceedings for condemnation, appropriation, <br /> taking and damaging of land and other property necessary <br /> therefor; declaring the necessity therefor; and <br /> providing for payment thereof. <br /> WHEREAS, it was deemed necessary and advisable in Ordinance No. <br /> 4192 (effective date December 26, 1966) that a substantial number of <br /> arterial and main streets throughout the City of Everett, Washington be <br /> improved by widening, paving, and channelization, by the acquisition and <br /> installation of traffic signals, signs and central devices, and that certain <br /> rights-of-way necessary to carry out such program of street improvements <br /> be acquired; and <br /> WHEREAS, it was deemed by said ordinance that, among others, the <br /> City should improve the following named avenues, boulevards, lanes and <br /> drives by the acquisition, construction and installation of the following <br /> described improvements: <br /> "22. Madison Avenue and Glenwood Avenue - Evergreen <br /> Way to Mukilteo Boulevard, widen and pave for future <br /> anticipated heavier traffic flow. <br /> 23. Beverly Lane and Dogwood Drive - Casino Corner to <br /> Mukilteo Boulevard, widen and pave to provide smoother <br /> traffic flow and improve alignment of the intersection of <br /> Dogwood Drive and Mukilteo Boulevard. " <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett, in direct dealings with certain land <br /> owners, has been unable to acquire a certain portion of land necessary to <br /> the completion of the above improvements because of a valuation dispute, and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett must now begin condemnation proceedings <br /> both to acquire the necessary right of way and to settle the valuation question. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: The public safety, necessity, and convenience demand, and <br /> the City Council so finds in conjunction with Ordinance No. 4192 (effective <br /> date December 26, 1966) that the streets hereafter described be improved <br /> by widening, paving and channelization together with the acquisition and <br /> installation of any necessary traffic control devices: <br /> 1. Madison Avenue and Glenwood Avenue - Evergreen Way to <br /> Mukilteo Boulevard, widen and pave for future anticipated <br /> heavier traffic flow. <br /> 2. Beverly Lane and Dogwood Drive - Casino Corner to Mukilteo <br /> Boulevard, widen and pave to provide smoother traffic <br /> flow and improve alignment of the intersection of Dogwood <br /> Drive and Mukilteo Boulevard. <br />
