Section 6: ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS <br /> The following requirements shall be mandatory for the installation of <br /> all electric wiring and installation of electrical equipment from and after the <br /> date of the adoption of this ordinance, and shall be in addition to all requirements <br /> of codes herein adopted by reference. <br /> 1. All electrical wiring in all buildings, except single family dwellings, <br /> shall be installed in approved metal raceways. All residential buildings, except <br /> single family dwellings and excluding hotels and motels, located outside of <br /> Fire District #1 and #2 may be wired with non-metallic cable if all feeders and <br /> sub-feeders are enclosed in an approved metal raceway. <br /> EXCEPTION: Residential apartment of two (2) stories or less excluding <br /> hotels and motels outside Fire Zones #1 and #2, may be wired in accordance <br /> with Chapter 3 of the National Electric Code except all feeders must be installed <br /> in an approved metal raceway. Any basement with one or more apartments <br /> shall be considered a story. <br /> 2. All service entrance conductors shall be in approved metal raceway. <br /> 3. Service conductors, meter bases and service distribution panels must <br /> all have the same rating. <br /> 4. The neutral on the main service must be at least 70 per cent of the <br /> ampacity of the ungrounded conductors. Minimum size neutral on residential <br /> dwelling shall be at least a 70 ampere reading. <br /> 5. All main disconnects on services for grouped installations must be <br /> of the same physical size, 5 small individual service disconnects and one large <br /> service disconnect controlling several service panels will not be accepted to <br /> satisfy the 6th disconnect rule of Section 230. 70 of the National Electrial Code. <br /> 6. All service panels shall have at least two (2) full size spaces for <br /> future circuits after wiring is completed. <br /> 7. Except for large load centers, all service equipment including <br /> switches, gutters and sub-feed switches, shall be mounted not more than seven <br /> (7) feet, nor less than three (3) feet from the floor or permanent working platform. <br /> 8. All mast type services penetrating the roof of a building shall have <br /> an all lead flashing or other material approved for the purpose by the Electrical <br /> Inspector. Straps on service mast must be of heavy metal with galvanized plating. <br /> 9. Underground service of a direct burial installation shall be of <br /> minimum size of 200 amperes capacity. <br /> 10. Neutral conductors shall be of the type TW or equal insulation rating. <br /> 11. The minimum size service conduit other than special duty service <br /> shall be l ". <br /> 12. The neutral conductor of the service wiring system shall be grounded <br /> in the meter base and continued to the neutral bar in the service switch. <br /> 13.
