�r <br /> of the city, and it is intended that such advertising be confined to business, <br /> commercial or industrial property. Accordingly, outdoor advertising structures, <br /> billboards, and poster panels (all hereinafter referred to as billboards) which <br /> advertise products or businesses not connected with the site on which they <br /> are located, shall be permitted uses only on properties which are zoned <br /> B-2, B-3, C-1, C-2 and M-1. <br /> Section 2: Location. <br /> No outdoor advertising sign structure designed to be primarily viewed <br /> from the main traveled way of an Interstate Highway shall be permitted. <br /> Outdoor advertising signs shall not be permitted closer than fifty feet <br /> to any residential zone, nor shall any such sign substantially interfere with <br /> or obstruct a view of unusual natural beauty available from said residential <br /> zone. <br /> There shall be a minimum distance of one hundred fifty (150) feet <br /> between any two outdoor advertising sign structures facing traffic in the <br /> same direction. Those billboards for which a permit was first issued shall <br /> be used to establish the initial point from which minimum distances shall be <br /> measured. <br /> Signs shall not be erected or maintained in such a manner as to obscure <br /> or otherwise physically interfere with an official traffic sign, signal or <br /> device or to obstruct or physically interfere with the driver's view of <br /> approaching, merging, or intersection traffic. <br /> Section 3: Height. <br /> Free-standing outdoor advertising signs shall not exceed a height of <br /> forty (40) feet above pavement level of the street to which it is oriented. <br /> However, in no case will a sign exceed the height limitation imposed upon <br /> other land uses permitted in the same zone. <br /> No roof sign structure shall be erected unless a variance is allowed under <br /> Section 7 of this ordinance. <br /> Section 4. Size <br /> Billboards may be single face or double face but no billboard shall <br /> contain more than two (2) sides or panels and shall not exceed an area of <br /> three hundred (300) square feet per side unless a variance is allowed under <br /> Section 7 of this ordinance. <br /> Page 2 <br />
