• <br /> . . <br /> Section 2: For the purpose of this ordinance, the following <br /> days are hereby designated to be holidays as it applies to this ordinance: <br /> New Years Day, January 1. <br /> Lincoln's Birthday, February 12. <br /> George Washington's Birthday, February 22. <br /> Memorial Day, May 30. <br /> Independence Day, July4. <br /> Labor Day <br /> Columbus Day, October 12. <br /> Veterans Day, November 11. <br /> Thanksgiving Day <br /> Christmas Day, December 25. <br /> General Election Day. <br /> Should any holiday above designated fall on a Saturday, the pre- <br /> ceding Friday shall be considered a holiday for the purposes of this ordinance, <br /> except with regard to policemen and policewomen and firemen. If any of the <br /> above-named holidays fall on Sunday, then the following Monday shall be <br /> declared a holiday for the purposes of this chapter, except with regard to <br /> policemen and policewomen and firemen. <br /> Any fireman who shall work on a ten to fourteen hour shift basis <br /> who commences or ends his regular shift of work on any legal holiday as <br /> designated by this ordinance shall be entitled to pay, in addition to his regular <br /> monthly pay, for each hour of 'work performed during the day, a sum equal <br /> to his monthly salary divided by one hundred and sixty-eight. <br /> Any policeman or policewoman, except the chief of the police <br /> department, who commences his or her regular shift of work on a legal <br /> holiday as designated by this ordinance and completes his or her eight <br /> hours of work, whether on said day or on the following day, shall be entitled <br /> in addition to his monthly pay, to a sum equal to one twenty-first of his or <br /> her monthly salary for such eight hours of work. <br /> Any policeman or policewoman, commencing his or her regular <br /> shift on a day other than a legal holiday as above described and finishing his <br /> or her shift on a holiday as above described, shall receive no additional <br /> compensation. <br /> Whenever a legal holiday above-designated by this ordinance falls <br /> on a policeman's or policewoman's day off, he or she shall be granted an <br /> additional day off. <br /> This ordinance and sections shall not apply to heads of departments <br /> who are not covered by civil service in connection with their employment. <br /> Section 3: That an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this <br /> ordinance shall take effect January 1, 1970. <br /> PfLi !vy <br /> MAYOR <br /> ATTEST: <br /> i <br /> 4t <br /> pE°' City er - <br /> Passed: ( a- - _�, y <br /> Valid: - o? <br /> p,ihli chart• r .J_ Z, it ai <br />
