ORDINANCE NO. ,-- <br /> 1 �. <br /> AN ORDINANCE establishing vacation policy for <br /> City of Everett employees and repealing Ordinances <br /> 4336, 3536 and 3580 (E. C. C. Chapter 1. 48) , and <br /> declaring an emergency to exist. <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Everett finds that an <br /> annual vacation is of benefit to both the employee and the City, and that all <br /> employees should be required to take an annual vacation, <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Sect ion 1: All City employees, except fire fighters working a <br /> 42-hour average work week, shall accrue vacation credit for each month of continu- <br /> ous service as shown on the table below: <br /> VACATION CREDIT ACCRUED <br /> CONTINUOUS SERVICE FROM Number of Work Days <br /> EMPLOYEE ANNIVERSARY DATE per Month per Year <br /> 1st year 1 day 12 days <br /> 2nd year 1-1/12 days 13 days <br /> 3rd & 4th years 1-1/6 days 14 days <br /> 5th year 1-1/4 days 15 days <br /> 6th & 7th years 1-1/3 days 16 days <br /> 8th & 9th years 1-5/12 days 17 days <br /> 10th through 19th years 1-1/2 days 18 days <br /> 20th year and beyond 1-2/3 days 20 days <br /> "Continuous service" shall be determined from the employee's anniversary <br /> date of entering City employment. <br /> Section 2: No vacation accrual will be allowed in excess of one <br /> full year's earned vacation. Under special circumstances, the Mayor may authorize <br /> accumulation of longer leave. Time not taken which causes accrual beyond one <br /> full year's earned vacation will be lost to the employee. <br /> Section 3: Vacations shall be scheduled by the department heads <br /> at times when they will constitute minimum conflicts with work schedules. <br /> Section 4: Neither probationary employees nor temporary employees <br /> are entitled to take vacation leave. A probationary employee will earn vacation <br /> credit which shall be credited to him when he becomes a regular employee. <br /> Section 5: Employees will be granted pay in lieu of vacation at such <br /> time as they are separated from City employment, unless such separation occurs <br /> during the entrance probationary period, or unless the employee quits without <br /> giving at least two weeks' written notice. <br />
