• <br /> a <br /> • <br /> (b) The Mayor, or his designee, may in the exercise of • <br /> his discretion place and maintain such additional <br /> • traffic-control signs, signals, anddevices as he may <br /> deem necessary to regulate traffic under the traffic <br /> ordinances of this city or under state law or to guide <br /> or warn traffic. <br /> Y <br /> Section 4: OFFICIAL TRAFFIC--CONTROL DEVICES <br /> PRESUMPTION OF LEGALITY <br /> • (a) Whenever official traffic-control devices are placed in <br /> position approximately conforming to the requirements <br /> of the traffic ordinances of this city, or state law, such <br /> • devices shall be presumed to have been so placed by the <br /> official act or direction of lawful authority, unless the <br /> contrary shall be established by competent evidence. <br /> (b) Any official traffic-control device placed pursuant to the <br /> provisions of the traffic ordinances of this city, or state <br /> law, and purporting to conform to the lawful requirements <br /> pertaining to such devices shall be presumed to comply <br /> with the requirements of the traffic ordinances of this <br /> city, or state law, unless the contrary shall be established • <br /> by competent evidence. <br /> Section 5: AUTHORITY TO DESIGNATE CROSSWALKS <br /> The Mayor, or his designee, be and hereby is authorized to designate and <br /> maintain by appropriate devices, marks, or lines upon the surface of the <br /> roadway, crosswalks at intersections where in his opinion there is particular <br /> danger to pedestrians crossing the roadway and at such other places as he, <br /> in the exercise of his discretion, may deem necessary. <br /> • . Section 6: AUTHORITY TO ESTABLISH AND DESIGNATE SAFETY <br /> ZONES <br /> • • (a) The Mayor, or his designee, be and hereby is authorized to <br /> establish safety zones of such kind and character and at <br /> • such places as he, in the exercise of his discretion, may <br /> deem necessary for ,the protection of pedestrians. <br /> • <br /> • (b) The Mayor, or his designee, • shall designate and maintain <br /> appropriate devices, marks or lines, signs, buttons, <br /> • standards or otherwise so as to be plainly discernible <br /> • <br /> or otherwise protect safety zones, <br /> 2- <br />
