October 2, 2013 <br /> The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order at 6:30 <br /> p.m., October 2, 2013 in the City Council Chambers of the Everett City <br /> Hall, Council President Moore presiding. Upon roll call it was found that <br /> Mayor Stephanson and Council Members Roberts, Moore, Murphy, <br /> Gipson, and Bader were present. Council Members Stonecipher and <br /> Affholter were excused. <br /> Council President Moore led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> The minutes of the September 25, 2013, City Council meeting were <br /> approved as printed. Council Member Bader abstained from the vote. <br /> CITY ATTORNEY <br /> The City Attorney had no comments. <br /> MAYOR <br /> Mayor Stephanson announced that the Seattle-based company Saltchuk <br /> has signed a purchase and sales agreement to buy the Everett Kimberly- <br /> Clark site. The Mayor introduced Saltchuk Chairman Mark Tabbutt and <br /> President Tim Engl who expressed their commitment to the project and <br /> plans to redevelop the site as a shipyard and maritime complex, which will <br /> initially bring 250 family-wage jobs to the community. <br /> Jay Manning, Cascadia Law Group, provided information about site <br /> development and cleanup, which will require working closely with the state <br /> Department of Ecology. <br /> COUNCIL <br /> Council Member Bader expressed his excitement for the new <br /> opportunities related to the Everett waterfront and gratitude for the hard <br /> work that will bring this project to fruition. <br /> 266 <br />
