VIOLATIONS THEREOF. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF It',VERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section I. Definitions. <br /> APPROACH WAY: A structure used to gain access to a pier or wharf, <br /> but not used to moor barges or vessels. <br /> LULKHEAD BUILDINGS: A structure on the land side of the bulkhead <br /> line, generally forming the land end of one or more piers. <br /> BULKHEAD WALL: A retaining wall of timber, steno, concrete, steel <br />• or other material built along, or parallel to, navigable waters. <br /> BULKHEAD LINE: The line established in navigable waters by Federal <br /> Authority beyond which bulkheads and piers of the solid-fill type may <br /> not extend. <br /> LOWWATER: The mean low water level as established in the tables of <br /> the United States Coast Lrii Geodetic Survey. <br /> PIER: A structure of timber, stone, concrete, steel or other material <br /> and projecting from the shore so that vessels may be moored alongside <br /> for loading and unloading or for storage. A pier may be either open deck <br /> or covered by a shed. For the purpose of this stsrr2ard, where the term <br /> "pier" is used, it shall be constrIted as including "wharf". <br /> PLERHEAD LINE: The line establtsheci in navigable waters, by Federal <br /> Authority beyond which such piers and marine structures of any kind may <br /> not extend. <br /> SUBSTRUCTURES: That portion of the construction below and including <br /> the pier or wharf dock. <br /> A. Fire-resistive substructure shall be one having a fire resistance <br /> rating in all of its parts, which sre three (3) feet above low water <br /> level, of not less than four (4) hours. <br /> • B. Non-combustible substructure shall be one having a fire reststsnce <br /> rating in all of its parts of not less than fo-tr (4) hours with the except- <br /> ion of structural steel, steel piles or reinfsrced concrete. <br /> C. Combustible substructure shall be all substructures vshic:s do not <br /> meet the fire-reststtsnce rating of "fire-resistive" or "non-combustible" <br /> substructures as defined in this ordinance. <br /> Ordinance -1- <br />
