SUPERSTRUCTURE: That portion of the construction above the pier <br /> or wharf deck. <br /> A. Fire-resistive superstructure shall be a superstructure with <br /> exterior walls constructed of eight (8) inches of reinforced concrete <br /> or equal, roof of three (3) hour fire-resistive construction with <br /> supporting members of four (4) hour fire-resistive construction. <br /> B. Non-combustible superstructure shall be one with the frame of <br /> steel, concrete or other non-combustible materials. <br /> C. Combustible superstructure shall be all superstructures which <br /> do not meet the fire-resistive rating of "fire-resistive" or "non- <br /> combustible superstructures as defined in this ordinance. <br /> WATERFRONT STRUCTURE: A structure or improvement which has <br /> 20% or more of its area over water at any time, or a structure which <br /> has more than 3, 000 square feet over water. <br /> WHARF: A structure of timber, stone, concrete, steel or other material <br /> having a platform built along and parallel to a bay, shore, or river so that <br /> a ship, barge or other means of water conveyance may be moored along- <br /> side for loading, unloading or for storage. A wharf may be either open <br /> deck or covered by a shed. <br /> FIRE V/ALL: A fire wall is a solid wall erected to prevent the spread of <br /> fire, extending from foundation through the roof. <br /> FIRE STOP: A fire stop is a solid wall built to prevent the spread of fire. <br /> DRAFT STOP OR. CURTAIN BOARD: A draft stop or curtain board is a <br /> solid wall built from the ceiling down to the lower chord of the roof trusses <br /> in order to retard the spread of fire. <br /> Section 2. _epnlicability. <br /> Unless otherwise hereinafter specifically provided, the provisions of this <br /> ordinance apply to the construction of all piers, wharves, bulkhead structures <br /> and similar facilities built after the effective date of this ordinance adjacent to <br /> or over water, bayshor es and waterways within the City of Everett. <br /> • <br /> Section 3. Fire-Resistive Substructures. <br /> Fire-resistive substructure shall be one having a fire resistive rating in <br /> all of its parts of not less than four (4 ) hours, and shall comply with the following <br /> specific requirements: <br /> A. Pier Deck. <br /> Pier decks of fire-resistive substructures shall be reinforced concrete <br /> or equivalent construction to effor d a four ( #) hour fire resistance rating. <br /> Where railroad tracks or ether depressions are run onto the pier deck and <br /> are at a lower level than the deck, the sides and bottom of the depressed <br /> section shall be of the same construction as the pier deck or of equivalent <br /> fire resistance rating. <br /> Ordinance -�- <br />
