Decks ?hove Pier Decks • <br /> Decks of any stories above the pier deck shall be of concrete <br /> or equivalent fire-resistive construction with a two hour fire <br /> resistance rating. Such decks shall be n-,ade thoroughly water <br /> proof and pitched to a slope of at least one inch in 20 feet. Decks <br /> shall be arranged to carry off through approved scuppers or drains, <br /> or by other suitable means, excess water deposited as a result of <br /> fire extinguishment. <br /> D. Curtain Boards or Draft Stops. <br /> Curtain boards or draft stops constructed of non-combustible <br /> material shall be located between fire walls at intervals not exceed- <br /> ing 100 feet. VThen construction permits, the curtain boards shall be <br /> carried down to the lower chord of the roof trusses. Installation of <br /> curtain boards shell not be less than that required by Standard for <br /> .the Installation of Sprinkler Systems, (NFPA No. 13, 1968). <br /> F. Skylights and Ventilators. <br /> Skylights and ventilators constructed of thin glass in metal <br /> frames, each not less than 100 square.feet in area, shall be placed <br /> between curtain boards and extending longitudinally along and on <br /> each side of the ridge. Above and below the skylight there shall be <br /> placed standard metal screens, the one above to be of sufficient <br /> strength to support one man's weight. Monitors or other ventilators <br /> giving equivalent venting capacity shall be acceptable. <br /> F. Vertical Openings. <br /> Stairs, elevators, escalators, chutes, and other vertical open- <br /> ings shall have enclosures constructed of approved masonry or <br /> reinforced concrete, or of a form of construction of non-combustible <br /> material having a fire resistance rating of not less than two hours. <br /> When such enclosures form shafts extending from the pier deck to <br /> the roof, they shall be provided with thin glass in metal frame <br /> skylights. Door openings shall be protected by self-closing or <br /> automatic fire doors approved for the location in which they are to <br /> be used. <br /> Section 8. Combustible Superstructures. <br /> P. 11 superstructures which do not meet the requirements of "Fire- <br /> . Resistive" or "Non-Combustible" superstructures shall be classified as <br /> combustible and shall comply with the following specific requirements: <br /> A. Heiryht. <br /> Combustible superstructures shall not exceed one story in <br /> height. <br /> B.
