ORDINANCE NO. 4 Z 6 8 <br /> AN ORDINANCE amending Everett City Code 1.28.010 and 1.28.020 dealing with <br /> payment of compensation for overtime work and allowance for holidays, and <br /> declaring an emergency to exist and providing that this ordinance shall take <br /> effect on January 1, 1968. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE TT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVERETT: <br /> Section 1: That Everett City Code 1.28.010 is hereby amended to read as follows : <br /> 1.28.010 How computed--When paid. The work week for all city employees covered <br /> by Civil Service, except firemen and policemen, parking meter maids, city hall <br /> janitors, water control station operators, basin patrolmen when working in water <br /> shed, and head works operators, shall be forty hours per week, eight hours per day. <br /> All City employees covered by Civil Service, except firemen and policemen, parking <br /> meter maids, city hall janitors, water control station operators, basin patrolmen <br /> when working in water shed, and head works operators, who shall be directed to work <br /> by the head of their department or duly authorized superior more than eight hours <br /> in any one day, or more than forty hours in any calendar week and in addition any <br /> person who shall work any day that is designated as a legal holiday in the State of <br /> Washington, except Sundays, shall be paid for such overtime work, or work on such <br /> holiday, at an hourly rate based upon one and one-half times the employees monthly <br /> salary divided by one hundred sixty-eight, which payment shall be in addition to <br /> the employees regular monthly payment. <br /> The following water department employees, water control station operators, basin <br /> patrolmen while working in the water shed, and head works operators, who shall be <br /> directed to work by the head of their department or duly authorized supervisor <br /> more than eight hours in any one day or more than forty-eight hours in any calendar <br /> week, or who shall work on any day that is designated as a legal holiday in the <br /> State of Washington, except Sundays, shall be paid for such overtime work, on <br /> such holiday, at an hourly rate based upon one and one-half times the employees <br /> monthly salary divided by one hundred sixty-eight, which payment shall be in <br /> addition to the employees regular monthly payment. <br /> Any fireman who shall be required to work, as provided by the ordinances of the <br /> City of Everett, on a 10 hour-14 hour shift, 42 hours a week basis, who shall be <br /> required, at the direction of the head of his department or duly authorized <br /> supervisor, to work additional hours in addition to his shift when any emergency <br /> is declared to exist by the head of his department or duly authorized supervisor <br /> shall be allowed payment for such overtime work at an hourly rate based upon one <br /> and one-half times his monthly salary divided by one hundred sixty-eight, which <br /> payment shall be in addition to his regular monthly payment. <br /> 1 Any employee of the Fire Department who shall be required to work on an eight <br /> hour shift basis, who shall be required at the direction of the head of his <br /> department or duly authorized supervisor, to work additional hours in addition <br /> to his shift when an emergency is declared to exist by the head of his department <br /> or duly authorized supervisor shall be allowed payment for such overtime work at <br /> an hourly rate based upon one and one-half times his monthly salary divided by <br /> one hundred sixty-eight, which payment shall be in addition to his regular monthly <br /> payment. <br /> Any policeman or policewoman who shall be required to attend police court to <br /> testify at any time other, than during his or her shift of work shall be allowed <br /> payment for two hours overtime pay based at the rate of one and one-half times <br /> his or her monthly salary divided by one hundred sixty-eight. Any policeman or <br /> policewoman who shall be required to work when an emergency has been declared to <br /> exist by the Chief of the Police Department or duly authorized supervisor, at any <br /> time other than his or her regular shift, shall be allowed for such overtime work <br /> at the rate of one and one-half times his or her monthly salary divided by one <br />
