( 403 <br /> August 7,1991 <br /> An executive session on a real property matter was neld prior <br /> to the City Council meeting today. <br /> The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to <br /> order at 8:30 a.m.,August 7,1991 in the City Council.Chambers <br /> of the Everett City Hall, President Morrow presiding. Upon <br /> roll call it was found that Mayor Kinch and all councilmen were <br /> present. <br /> I ( The minutes Of the July 31, 1991 meeting were approved as <br /> printed. <br /> MAYOR'S COMMENTS <br /> The City of Moscow sent certificates of appreciation that were <br /> re en ' <br /> d by Mayor Kinch to Rod Boone Randy Tomaras, Chris <br /> FibbgtteRichard Reed, Bill Coheen and Jay Bohreer. These were <br /> in recognition of the $93,000 worth of medicine that was <br /> donated to the children of the Soviet Union. Randy Tamarss was <br /> the primary initiator of this humanitarian effort. The <br /> medicine was delivered when the Cascade High School Band <br /> marched in the Moscow parade last spring. <br /> 1 Karen Charnell, Tourism Director for the Chamber of Commerce, <br /> gave a brief report on conventions and visitor bureau <br /> programs. she indicated that tourism was slow due to several <br /> factors: bad weather, slow economy, Gulf war, and the teacher <br /> strike. It is anticipated that by year end it will speed up. <br /> =kstel:'g'ha';:n:Us sill <br /> 11111:X=ay% "h"' <br /> COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> 1 <br /> ( Councilman Anderson acknowledged that the weeds along Hewitt <br /> 1 Avenue in the area of Oakes and Lombard had been cleaned up and <br /> extended a thank you on behalf of the citizens. <br /> 1 Councilman Moser was gratified by the turn out of volunteers <br /> that helped with the library move. <br /> o He further reported that he had attended a slag meeting <br /> regarding the smelter area(NE Everett)which was presented by <br /> the Department of Ecology. It was well attended and the <br /> citizens were very responsive. <br /> ( <br />
