September 12,2001 <br /> The <br /> of the <br /> September l2,2001 in the City Cott uncouncil was il Chambers offtthee order 8:30 Hall, <br /> President Simpson presiding.Upon roll call it was found that Mayor Haven, <br /> CounciMembera Anderson,Simpson,Warnock Gipson,Campbell,Pope and <br /> Overstreet were present <br /> Police Chief Scharf led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> The minutes of the September 5,2001 City Council meeting were approved v <br /> printed.Cowtcihnember Simpson abstained from the vote. <br /> MA-1'01k <br /> Mayor Haven commented on the tarorista acts which took place in New York <br /> City yesterday and expressed his sympathy to the victim's families. <br /> REPORT <br /> Police Chief Scharf stated that,due to the events in New York City,the Mayor <br /> met with the Police and Fire Depazthrent's command staffs yesterday morning to <br /> discuss security for the City's facilities.The Police Department also coordinated <br /> with the Sheriffs Department to guard other mutually essential facilities within <br /> the City.He remarked that due to the diverse nature of the community,he by <br /> contacted Supenntendart Whitehead of the Everett School Dishier to discuss <br /> concerns regarding students. <br /> Fire Chief Gordon remarked that the Fire Department opened their Operations <br /> Center ted added additional command staff to handle any incidents which may <br /> He stated that they have been in constmt communication with the <br /> Department of Emergency Management and have received intelligence briefings <br /> from Snohomish County ad the State. <br /> APPOINTMENT—LIBRARY BOARD <br /> Mayor Hansen re0uestad Me City Council's con:Hen ce regarding the <br /> appointment of Lawrence O'Donnell to the Library Board. <br /> 391 <br />
