• J ORDINANCE NO. AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR THE CITY OF EVERETT, PROVIDING FOR ITS PERSONNEL, AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF THE REGULARLY CONSTITUTED FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR THE CITY OF EVERETT TO ADOPT RULES AND REGULATIONS THEREFOR. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVERETT: Section 1 : There is hereby established for the City of Everett a volunteer Fire Department to be an auxiliary of the regularly constituted or present full time, paid Fire Department of said City. Section 2 : The personnel of the Volunteer Fire Department shall be appointed by the Chief of the Everett Fire Department with the consent of the Commissioner of Safety; Provided, however, that said volunteers in order to be eligible for appointment shall have been members of the Lowell or Fire District No. 6 Volunteer Fire Departments as of August 1 , 1962; Provided further, each applicant in order to be eligible for appointment must be physically qualified to perform the duties of a fireman and have at least ten years credited time under the Volunteer Firemen ' s Relief and Pension Act of the State of Washington. No such applicant shall be subject to any Civil Service requirements, and no member of such department shall come under or be affected by any Civil Service regulations or be eligible therefor. Section 3 : The said Volunteer Fire Department shall be under the direction of and control of the Chief of the Fire Department of the City of Everett, the regularly paid and constituted Fire Department, or in the absence of the Chief, such officer in the fully paid Department as he may designate. The Chief of the regularly constituted Fire Department, with the consent of the Commissioner of Safety, is authorized to promulgate and enact rules and regulations governing the Volunteer Fire - 1 -
