• J <br /> ORDINANCE NO. <br /> AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR <br /> THE CITY OF EVERETT, PROVIDING FOR ITS PERSONNEL, AUTHORIZING <br /> THE CHIEF OF THE REGULARLY CONSTITUTED FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR <br /> THE CITY OF EVERETT TO ADOPT RULES AND REGULATIONS THEREFOR. <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVERETT: <br /> Section 1 : There is hereby established for the City of Everett <br /> a volunteer Fire Department to be an auxiliary of the regularly <br /> constituted or present full time, paid Fire Department of <br /> said City. <br /> Section 2 : The personnel of the Volunteer Fire Department <br /> shall be appointed by the Chief of the Everett Fire Department <br /> with the consent of the Commissioner of Safety; Provided, <br /> however, that said volunteers in order to be eligible for <br /> appointment shall have been members of the Lowell or Fire <br /> District No. 6 Volunteer Fire Departments as of August 1 , 1962; <br /> Provided further, each applicant in order to be eligible for <br /> appointment must be physically qualified to perform the duties <br /> of a fireman and have at least ten years credited time under <br /> the Volunteer Firemen ' s Relief and Pension Act of the State of <br /> Washington. No such applicant shall be subject to any Civil <br /> Service requirements, and no member of such department shall <br /> come under or be affected by any Civil Service regulations or <br /> be eligible therefor. <br /> Section 3 : The said Volunteer Fire Department shall be under <br /> the direction of and control of the Chief of the Fire Department <br /> of the City of Everett, the regularly paid and constituted <br /> Fire Department, or in the absence of the Chief, such officer <br /> in the fully paid Department as he may designate. The Chief <br /> of the regularly constituted Fire Department, with the consent <br /> of the Commissioner of Safety, is authorized to promulgate <br /> and enact rules and regulations governing the Volunteer Fire <br /> - 1 - <br />
