ORDINANCE NO. AN ORDINANCE FIXING AND DETERMINING THE NUMBER OF THE VARIOUS OFFICERS, ASSISTANTS, DEPUTIES AND EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF EVERETT; PRESCRIBING THE DUTIES OF SUCH OFFICERS, ASSISTANTS, DEPUTIES AND EMPLOYEES; FIXING THEIR SALARIES; PROVIDING FOR MEDICAL SERVICES; REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 3740 OF THE CITY OF EVERETT; REPEALING CHAPTER 1 . 16 AND CHAPTER 1.24, CITY CODE OF EVERETT; AND DECLARING THIS ORDINANCE SHALL TAKE EFFECT ON JANUARY 1, 1961, AND ESTABLISHING CODE NUMBERS. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: SECTION 1: That beginning January 1, 1961, and on and after said date, the various officers, assistants, deputies and employees of the City of Everett, in addition to those provided for in the Charter of the City of Everett, shall be as in this ordinance provided. (Chapter 1.16.010) SECTION 2: CITY ATTORNEY DEPARTMENT There shall be in the office of the City Attorney a Special City Attorney, a stenographer and a relief stenographer (all part time) . Said Special City Attorney and said stenographer shall perform such duties as the City Attorney may authorize and direct. (Chapter 1. 16.020) SECTION 3: CITY HALL DEPARTMENT There shall be in the City Hall Department two Janitors. Said Janitors shall perform the janitor work in connection with the City Hall. The Mayor shall be the head of the department. (1. 16.030) SECTION 4: LIBRARY DEPARTMENT There shall be in the Library Department the following named officers, assistants and employees, to-wit: One Director; one Catalog Librarian; one Reference Librarian; one Children' s Librarian; one Circulation Librarian; one Assistant Reference Librarian; one Children' s Assistant; one Bookkeeper; one Secretary; one Bookbinder, PT; one Periodicals Clerk; one Circulation Clerk; one Clerk; one Janitor; one Janitress, PT; two Clerks, PT; four Professional Librarians, PT; five Pages, PT. The Director shall be in general charge and shall have supervision of the Library Department. The other officers, assistants and employees shall perform such duties as pertain to the nature of their office and as authorized and directed by the Director. (1. 16.040) SECTION 5 : CIVIL SERVICE DEPARTMENT There shall be in the Civil Service Department the following named officers, to-wit: One Secretary (part time) , one Assistant Examiner (part time) , one or more Special Examiners (part time) . The Secretary, Assistant Examiner and other assistants shall perform such duties as the Civil Service Commission shall authorize and direct. (1. 16.050)
