ORDINANCE NO. <br /> AN ORDINANCE FIXING AND DETERMINING THE NUMBER OF THE <br /> VARIOUS OFFICERS, ASSISTANTS, DEPUTIES AND EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY <br /> OF EVERETT; PRESCRIBING THE DUTIES OF SUCH OFFICERS, ASSISTANTS, <br /> DEPUTIES AND EMPLOYEES; FIXING THEIR SALARIES; PROVIDING FOR <br /> MEDICAL SERVICES; REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 3740 OF THE CITY OF <br /> EVERETT; REPEALING CHAPTER 1 . 16 AND CHAPTER 1.24, CITY CODE OF <br /> EVERETT; AND DECLARING THIS ORDINANCE SHALL TAKE EFFECT ON <br /> JANUARY 1, 1961, AND ESTABLISHING CODE NUMBERS. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> SECTION 1: That beginning January 1, 1961, and on and <br /> after said date, the various officers, assistants, deputies and <br /> employees of the City of Everett, in addition to those provided <br /> for in the Charter of the City of Everett, shall be as in this <br /> ordinance provided. (Chapter 1.16.010) <br /> SECTION 2: CITY ATTORNEY DEPARTMENT <br /> There shall be in the office of the City Attorney a <br /> Special City Attorney, a stenographer and a relief stenographer <br /> (all part time) . <br /> Said Special City Attorney and said stenographer shall <br /> perform such duties as the City Attorney may authorize and direct. <br /> (Chapter 1. 16.020) <br /> SECTION 3: CITY HALL DEPARTMENT <br /> There shall be in the City Hall Department two Janitors. <br /> Said Janitors shall perform the janitor work in connection with <br /> the City Hall. The Mayor shall be the head of the department. <br /> (1. 16.030) <br /> SECTION 4: LIBRARY DEPARTMENT <br /> There shall be in the Library Department the following <br /> named officers, assistants and employees, to-wit: <br /> One Director; one Catalog Librarian; one Reference <br /> Librarian; one Children' s Librarian; one Circulation Librarian; <br /> one Assistant Reference Librarian; one Children' s Assistant; one <br /> Bookkeeper; one Secretary; one Bookbinder, PT; one Periodicals <br /> Clerk; one Circulation Clerk; one Clerk; one Janitor; one <br /> Janitress, PT; two Clerks, PT; four Professional Librarians, PT; <br /> five Pages, PT. <br /> The Director shall be in general charge and shall have supervision <br /> of the Library Department. The other officers, assistants and <br /> employees shall perform such duties as pertain to the nature of <br /> their office and as authorized and directed by the Director. <br /> (1. 16.040) <br /> SECTION 5 : CIVIL SERVICE DEPARTMENT <br /> There shall be in the Civil Service Department the <br /> following named officers, to-wit: <br /> One Secretary (part time) , one Assistant Examiner (part <br /> time) , one or more Special Examiners (part time) . <br /> The Secretary, Assistant Examiner and other assistants shall <br /> perform such duties as the Civil Service Commission shall <br /> authorize and direct.
