r - , <br /> • <br /> • <br /> • <br /> • <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 3697 <br /> AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A <br /> BUREAU OF FIRE PREVENTION; PRESCRIBING REGULATIONS GOVERNING CON- <br /> DITIONS HAZARDOUS TO LIFE AND PROPERTY FROM FIRE OR EXPLOSION; <br /> PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION BY REFERENCE OF THE SUGGESTED FIRE <br /> PREVENTION CODE OF THE NATIONAL BOARD OF FIRE UNDERWRITERS, <br /> 1976 EDITION; AMENDING SECTIONS 1.05 and 1.06 THEREOF; SUPER- <br /> SEDING ORDINANCE NO. 3414; AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NOS. 25, 1183, <br /> 1275, 1494, 1597 and 1631. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1 : That the 1956 Edition of the Suggested Fire <br /> Prevention Code recommended by the National Board of Fire <br /> Underwriters is hereby adopted by reference, subject to amend- <br /> ment of Sections 1.05 and 1.06 thereof, as provided by R.C.W. <br /> 35.21. 180, as an ordinance of the City of Everett, and that no <br /> less than three copies of said Suggested Fire Prevention Code <br /> have been and shall be on file for the use and examination of <br /> the public in the office of the City Clerk of the City of <br /> Everett. <br /> Section 2: That Section 1.05 of the Suggested Fire <br /> Prevention Code recommended by the National Board of Fire <br /> Underwriters, 1956 Edition, is hereby amended to read as <br /> follows : <br /> Section 1.05. Dangerous buildings or places defined <br /> and declared to be a nuisance, and <br /> standards of repair and correction or <br /> demolition. <br /> All buildings, structures, premises, places and yards <br /> which have any or all of the following conditions, shall <br /> be deemed dangerous buildings or places and are hereby <br /> declared to be a nuisance and shall be repaired, correct- <br /> ed, vacated, removed or demolished as hereinafter <br /> provided: <br /> (a) Dangerous or unlawful amounts of combustible or <br /> explosive or otherwise hazardous material; <br /> (b) Hazardous conditions arising from defective or <br /> improperly installed equipment for handling or <br /> using combustible or explosive or otherwise <br /> hazardous materials; <br /> (c) Dangerous accumulations or rubbish, waste paper, <br /> boxes, shavings, underbrush or other highly <br /> flammable materials; <br /> (d) Accumulations of dust or waste material in air <br /> conditioning or ventilator systems or grease in <br /> kitchen or other exhaust ducts; <br /> (e) Obstructions to or on fire escapes, stairs or <br /> passageways, doors or windows, liable to inter- <br /> fere with the operations of the fire department <br /> or egress of the occupants in case of fire; <br /> (f) Any building or structure which by reason of <br /> age or dilapidated condition or for want of repair <br /> is especially liable to fire or spread of fire; <br />
