ORDINANCE No. 300 . <br /> AN ORDINANCE relating to, regulating and licensing the <br /> business and practice of plumbing; creating a board of examiners <br /> for plumbers and prescribing the duties thereof, and declaring <br /> an emergency. <br /> THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: It shall be unlawful for any person, <br /> firm or corporation to engage in the business as a master plumbeij <br /> or for any person to engage in the business of journeyman <br /> plumber without first having obtained a license under this <br /> ordinance. Application for such licenses shall be made in <br /> writing to the City Clerk of the City of Everett upon a form <br /> therefor to be furnished by the City Clerk. <br /> Section 2: The provisions of this ordinance shall <br /> not apply to the laying of side sewer by a side sewer contractor <br /> regularly licensed and shall not be construed to prevent the <br /> owner of any residence or building, or any member of his family, <br /> from performing plumbing work in or about said residence or <br /> building for which no permit is required by law without a livens, <br /> required by this ordinance . If the work involved is of such <br /> character as to require a permit any owner or member of his <br /> family who is to perform such work shall appear before the <br /> plumbing inspector and show to his satisfaction that he has <br /> sufficient knowledge to properly perform such plumbing work. <br /> Section 3: The term "master plumber" es used in <br /> this ordinance, in addition to its ordinary meaning shall be <br /> held and construed to mean and include any person, firm or <br /> corporation engaged in, or engaging in the business of furnish- <br /> ing by contract, subcontract, day labor or otherwise any labor <br /> or material, or either of them, in the placing, replacing , <br /> installation, construction or reconstruction of pipes, fittings, <br /> fixtures or other materials connected with the business of <br /> plumbing in any building or elsewhere intended for the conduct- <br /> ing of waste , water or sewage. This section shall not be <br /> construed to apply to any person, firm or corporation engaged <br /> in the business of selling supplies only. <br /> Section 4: The term "journeyman plumber" as used in <br /> this ordinance, in addition to its ordinary meaning, shall be <br /> held and construed to mean and include any person engaged in, or <br /> engaging in the work of placing, replacing, installing, construe - <br /> ing or reconstructing of pipes, fittings, fixtures or other <br /> materials connected with the business of plumbing in any building <br /> or elsewhere intended for the conducting of waste, water or sewage. <br /> Section 5: There is hereby created an examining <br /> board for the purpose of examining persons making application for <br /> a journeyman plumber's license under this ordinance. Said ex- 1 <br /> amining board shall consist of the Building Inspector and Plumb- <br /> ing Inspector of the City of Everett and one journeyman plumber <br /> appointed by the Mayor of the City of Everett. The first journey- <br /> man plumber appointed to said Board shall not be required to have <br /> a journeyman plumber' s license from the City of Everett. <br />
