AN ORDINATCE relating to the public health, and pro- viding for the inspection and licensing of commercial poultry markets and employees therein, defining offences, prescribing penalties for the violation thereof, and declaring an emergency. THE, CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1. DEFINITIONS: (a) The word "poultry" as used in this ordinance shall be deemed to mean and include all fowls or parts thereof designed or intended for human consumption. (b) The term "poultry handler" shall be deemed to mean and include all persons , other than producers, engaged in preparing , selling or disposing of poultry to the consumer. ( c) The term "poultry market " shall be deemed to mean and include all shops or markets where poultry is bought , kept , killed or offered for sale. Section 2 . LICENSES: (a ) It shall be unlawful for person, firm or corporation, except those licensed to operate a meat shop under the terms of Ordinance 1 o. 2730, to open, conduct , manage , operate or maintain a potUltrymarket without first having obtained a license therefor. All licenses shall be posted and displayed in a conspicuous place in said market . (b) Any person desiring to obtain a poultry market license shall make application to the Health Officer of the City of Everett , on a form to be provided by him, setting forth the name of the applicant , the location by street and number of the premises to be so occupied, and the maximum number of poultry handlers to be employed or to operate as such therein. Upon the filing of such application the same shall be referred to the Meat Inspector who shall inspect the premises therein des- cribed and the fixtures and equipment to be used therein. If the said premises, fixtures, and equipment comply with the requirements of this ordinance and with all rules and regulations of the City of Everett regulating the public health and sanitatio, said N,ieat Inspector shall so certify, and upon payment of the required license fee, shall thereupon issue such license . In the event the same do not so comply the Meat Inspector shall thereupon reject such application, ( c) Every Poultry ;Earket License shall authorize the person, firm or corporation named therein to conduct and operate a poultry market and to buy, keep, kill, dress, prepare and sell poultry until the 31st day of December next following the issuance of such license, unless sooner revoked for cause, and such license shall be non-transferrable .
