ORDINANCE NO . 2611
<br /> An Ordinance providing for the licensing and regulation in the city of Ever-
<br /> ett.,, of the business of occupation of money lenders , salary loan brokers, chattel
<br /> mortgage loan brokers or other short time lenders of money, secured or unsecured ,
<br /> levying an annual license fee or occupation tax for revenue upon the same , pre-
<br /> scribing penalties for the violation thereof, repealing section three of Ordi-
<br /> nance No. 2574 and all other ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict here-
<br /> with, and declaring an emergency.
<br /> THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN:
<br /> Section 1. There are hereby levied and shall be collected annual license
<br /> fees or occupation taxes against the persons , associations , copartnerships or
<br /> corporations , except banks or savings and loan associations or real estate brok-
<br /> ers , on account of their business activities or privileges, and in amounts here-
<br /> inafter fixed, as follows:
<br /> (a) Upon every person, association, copartnership or corporation, except
<br />' I...i ...I.banks or savings and loan associations or real estate brokers, within the City
<br /> of Everett, engaged in the business or occupation of loaning or advancing money
<br /> on assignments of wages , due or to become due , or discounting salaries or wages,
<br /> due or to become due , a fee or tax of One Hundred ( 100) Dollars per annum.
<br /> (b) Upon every person, association, copartnership or corporation, except
<br /> banks or savings and loan associations or real estate brokers, within the City
<br /> of Everett, engaged in the business or occupation of a salary loan broker or a
<br /> chattel mortgage loan broker or lending money secured by chattel mortgage , bills
<br /> of sale , conditional pale contracts , or- other contracts involving as security the
<br /> forfeiture of rights in personal property, bills of sale , conditional bills of
<br /> sale , salary or wages, due or to become due, a fee or tax of One Hundred ( 100)
<br /> Dollars per annum.
<br /> (c) Upon every person, association, copartnership or corporation, except
<br /> banks or savings and loan associations or real estate brokers, within the city of
<br /> Everett, engaged in the business or occupation of making short time loans of mo-
<br /> ney (meaning a loan of money for a period of one (1) year or less) , with or with-
<br /> out security upon chattels or other personal property, to working people, or sal-
<br /> ary earners, or earners without salary , or any person applying for a short time
<br /> loan, a fee or tax of fine Hundred ( 100) Dollars per annum.
<br /> Section 2 . Any person, association, copartnership or corporation, except
<br /> or real estate brokers
