4 ORDINANCE NO. q>{' An ordinance relating to and regulating the business of carrying passengers for hire on the streets of the city of .Averett, requiring persons engaged in such business to secure a license there- for, providing for the issuance of such license, fixing fees therefor, providing a penalty for the violation thereof, and declaring an emergency. TEA CITY OF EVAIRATT DO. S ORDAIN: Section 1: The term "jitney buss" as herein used shall mean and include every motor-driven vehicle that shall receive and carry passengers for hire on any of the streets of the city of Everett, from one part of the city to another part thereof, and operating between certain points or parts of the city, or over any definite route or routes within the city of .verett; provided, it shall not include busses used exclusively for the transportation of hotel guests to and from a certain hotel and making connections from such hotel with in-coming and out-going trains, nor vehicles used exclusively in the sight-seeing business, nor railway or street rail- way cars , nor hearses , ambulances , or vehicles used exclusively for transporting pallbearers. Section 2: It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to engage in or conduct the business of operating on the streets of the city of Everett any jitney buss , without first obtain.- ing a license therefor, as provided herein. Section 3: _;very person, firm or corporation engaged in such business shall pay to the city of Everett an annual license fee of ten (; 10.oo) dollars , for each and every motor vehicle used in such business. Upon the payment of such license fee to the city treasurer of the city of Everett, the city clerk shall issue to the applicant a license to engage in such business for a term of one year, and to use in such business the vehicles for which a license
