,IPosarl RESOLUTION NO. 4 7 64 A RESOLUTION adopting a public art plan for Everett Station. WHEREAS, on December 31, 1997,the Everett City Council amended Ordinance 1471- 88 establishing the Everett Cultural Commission; and WHEREAS, said amendment allowed the incorporation of public art in public transit projects on a project by project basis with the adoption of an authorizing resolution by the Everett City Council; and WHEREAS, on July 29, 1998,the Everett City Council adopted Resolution 4640 approving the inclusion of public art as part of the Everett Station project; and WHEREAS, On September 9, 1998, the Everett City Council authorized the Mayor to enter into a professional services agreement with Mr. Tad Savinar to provide lead design team artist services for the Everett Station project; and WHEREAS, the first phase of the lead design team artist services required the identification of public art themes for the Everett Station project; identification of public art opportunities within the Everett Station project, and identification of a process to promote wide participation of local artists in Everett Station art projects; and WHEREAS, a public art plan was prepared identifying the recommended public art themes, public art opportunities and a local artist participation process for the Everett Station project; and WHEREAS,the public art plan was developed, in part, based upon a review of existing public art works around the city of Everett, site visits to community and civic locations around the city of Everett, and meetings with Everett City Council members and staff, local area artists,the Everett Historical Commission and Everett Cultural Commission; and WHEREAS, additional public input regarding the public art plan was received at an Open House held on March 11, 1999 at the Everett Senior Center; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVERETT that 1
