ORDINANCE NO.076 -95 <br /> An Ordinance Relating to the Zoning Code Regulations for Signs, Including Political Signs, and <br /> Amending Section 4.020(P) of Ordinance No. 1671-89 [EMC 19.04.020(P)], Section 36.030(K) <br /> of Ordinance No. 1671-89 [EMC 19.30.030(K)], Section 36.130 of Ordinance No. 1671-89 <br /> [EMC 19.36.130], Chapter 36 of Ordinance No. 1671-89 [EMC 19.36], and <br /> Section 36.120(B) of Ordinance No. 1671-89 [EMC 19.36.120(B)] <br /> WHEREAS,the City did adopt Ordinance#1671-89 establishing a new Zoning Code which <br /> became effective on January 13, 1990; and <br /> WHEREAS, said Ordinance established regulations for political signs and other signs; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the Washington State Supreme Court recently made a <br /> decision affecting the regulation of political signs necessitating a change to Everett's regulations; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS,the City Council finds that the proposed revision to the zoning code regulations for <br /> political signs are consistent with the Everett Comprehensive Plan; bear a substantial relationship <br /> to the public health, safety and welfare; and promote the best long-term interests of the Everett <br /> community. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1. Section 4.020(P) of Ordinance #1671-89, as amended(EMC 19.04.020(P)), <br /> definition of"Political Sign," which reads: <br /> "Political sign" means any sign intended to promote an individual or an issue on an <br /> election ballot to be voted upon by the general electorate. <br /> is hereby amended to read: <br /> "Political sign" means any sign intended to express political beliefs, or to promote an <br /> individual or an issue on an election ballot. <br /> Section 2: Section 36.030(K) of Ordinance#1671-89, as amended (EMC 19.36.030(K)),which <br /> reads: <br />
