• <br /> E!/E?ETT <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 1872-92 <br /> AN ORDINANCE establishing a two or three year civil <br /> service eligibility list for promotional <br /> examinations and amending Section 5 of Ordinance <br /> No. 1069-84 . <br /> THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> SECTION 1: Section 5 of Ordinance No. 1069-84 which reads as <br /> follows: <br /> Section 5: Eligibility Lists. After an <br /> examination, an eligibility list shall be prepared and <br /> kept available. The scores used to establish the list <br /> shall include veterans credit if applicable under RCW <br /> 41. 04 . Whenever identical ratings are earned, as the <br /> result of an open and competitive examination, they <br /> shall be considered as equal in rank. Whenever <br /> identical iatings result from a promotional <br /> examination, seniority shall be the deciding factor in <br /> determining the ranking of eligibles. <br /> Open and competitive eligibility lists shall be valid <br /> for one or two calendar years from the date of <br /> certification. The Personnel Officer shall determine, <br /> prior to certification, whether such a list shall be a <br /> one or a two year list. Promotional eligibility lists <br /> shall be valid for three calendar years from date of <br /> certification. An open and competitive eligibility <br /> list may be abolished when fewer than three names <br /> remain on it. When fewer than three names remain on a <br /> promotional eligibility list, or when mutually agreed <br /> upon as being necessary for the efficient operation of <br /> a Department, another examination may be administered <br /> with the resultant eligible names added onto the <br /> current list, with those from the prior examination <br /> remaining at the top of the composite list until the <br /> time during which they are valid expires. Anyone on an <br /> eligibility list who declines an appointment shall be <br /> removed from the list, subject to the discretion of the <br /> Personnel Officer. <br /> Acceptance of a temporary or acting appointment to any <br /> position shall not cause an eligible to lose his <br /> standing on an eligibility list. <br /> is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> Section 5: Eligibility Lists.
