M1 3(0-4% 2 3 AN ORDINANCE CREATING A PLANNING COMMISSION 4 FOR THE CITY OF EVERETT AND ESTABLISHING THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF SUCH PLANNING 5 COMMISSION, AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 3-68 6 THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: 8 Section 1: Planning Commission - Created. A Planning Commission is 9 hereby created and established which shall be a citizen advisory board with 10 the duty of making recommendations to the Council, Mayor, and other City 11 departments on the City's broad planning goals and policies and on such 12 plans for the development of the City as its present and future needs may 13 require. When so directed by the Mayor or Council, the Planning Commission 14 shall make recommendations on matters relating to the City's physical 15 development and re-development. 16 17 Section 2: Planning Commission - Membership. The Commission shall 18 consist of seven members appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the 19 Council. Additionally, two (2) individuals may be appointed by the Mayor 20 with the approval of Council to serve in the capacity of alternates. 21 Alternates shall serve in the absence of members when so asked by the 22 Commission Chairperson and when serving shall have the same powers and 23 responsibilities as duly appointed Commission members. 24 25 Section 3: Planning Commission - Term of Office. The term of the 26 Commission members and alternates shall be in accordance with Section 5.2 27 of the Charter of the City of Everett. The present appointive members 28 shall remain in office for the balance of their presently existing terms 29 subject to the provisions of this ordinance. 30 31 32
