• _ t • 1 , ORDINANCE NO. 5'1-6 AN ORDINANCE establishing compensation for overtime work and repealing Ordinance No. 4339 (E. C. C. Chapter 1. 28), and declaring an emergency to exist. THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1: The work week for all city employees covered by civil service, except communications department employees, firemen working on a ten to fourteen hour shift basis, policemen and policewomen, water control station operators, basin patrolmen when working in water shed, and head works operators, shall normally be forty hours per week, eight hours per day. All city employees covered by civil service, except communications department employees, firemen working on a ten to fourteen hour shift basis/policemen and policewomen, water control station operators, basin patrolmen when work- ing in water shed, and head works operators, who shall be directed to work by the head of their department or duly authorized supervisor more than eight hours in any one day, or more than forty hours in any calendar week, and in addition any person who shall work any day that is designated as a holiday by this ordinance, except Sundays, shall be paid for such overtime work, or work on such holiday, at an hourly rate based upon one and one-half times the employee's monthly salary divided by one hundred sixty-eight, which payment shall be in addition to the employee's regular monthly payment, and, when called back to work for an emergency after the completion of a regular eight (8) hour shift shall receive a minimum of three (3) hours overtime pay. The following water department employees, water control station operators, basin patrolmen while working in the water shed, and head works operators, who shall be directed to work by the head of their department or duly authorized supervisor more than eight hours in any one day or more than forty-eight hours in any calendar week, or who shall work on any day that is designated as a holiday by this ordinance, except Sunday, shall be paid for such overtime work, or work on such holiday, at an hourly rate based upon one and one-half times the employee's monthly salary divided by one hundred sixty-eight, which payment shall be in addition to the employee's regular monthly payment. Any fireman who is required to work as provided by the ordinances of the City of Everett on a ten hour-fourteen hour shift, forty-two hours a week basis and who shall be required, at the direction of the head of his department or duly authorized supervisor, to work additional hours in addition to his shift when any emergency is declared to exist by the head of his department or duly authorized supervisor, or in the event of need L.
