• <br /> _ t <br /> • 1 , <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 5'1-6 <br /> AN ORDINANCE establishing compensation for <br /> overtime work and repealing Ordinance No. <br /> 4339 (E. C. C. Chapter 1. 28), and declaring an emergency <br /> to exist. <br /> THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: The work week for all city employees covered by <br /> civil service, except communications department employees, firemen working on <br /> a ten to fourteen hour shift basis, policemen and policewomen, water control <br /> station operators, basin patrolmen when working in water shed, and head <br /> works operators, shall normally be forty hours per week, eight hours per day. <br /> All city employees covered by civil service, except communications department <br /> employees, firemen working on a ten to fourteen hour shift basis/policemen <br /> and policewomen, water control station operators, basin patrolmen when work- <br /> ing in water shed, and head works operators, who shall be directed to work <br /> by the head of their department or duly authorized supervisor more than eight <br /> hours in any one day, or more than forty hours in any calendar week, and <br /> in addition any person who shall work any day that is designated as a holiday <br /> by this ordinance, except Sundays, shall be paid for such overtime work, or <br /> work on such holiday, at an hourly rate based upon one and one-half times the <br /> employee's monthly salary divided by one hundred sixty-eight, which payment <br /> shall be in addition to the employee's regular monthly payment, and, when <br /> called back to work for an emergency after the completion of a regular <br /> eight (8) hour shift shall receive a minimum of three (3) hours overtime pay. <br /> The following water department employees, water control <br /> station operators, basin patrolmen while working in the water shed, and <br /> head works operators, who shall be directed to work by the head of their <br /> department or duly authorized supervisor more than eight hours in any <br /> one day or more than forty-eight hours in any calendar week, or who shall work <br /> on any day that is designated as a holiday by this ordinance, except <br /> Sunday, shall be paid for such overtime work, or work on such holiday, <br /> at an hourly rate based upon one and one-half times the employee's <br /> monthly salary divided by one hundred sixty-eight, which payment shall <br /> be in addition to the employee's regular monthly payment. <br /> Any fireman who is required to work as provided by the ordinances <br /> of the City of Everett on a ten hour-fourteen hour shift, forty-two hours a <br /> week basis and who shall be required, at the direction of the head of his <br /> department or duly authorized supervisor, to work additional hours in <br /> addition to his shift when any emergency is declared to exist by the head <br /> of his department or duly authorized supervisor, or in the event of need <br /> L. <br />
