City of Everett
' Everpark Garage Repairs Addendum No.4
a. Are we to remove and reinstall the parking bumpers for this work or are they to be left in
place? If they are to be removed, can an allowance be established for replacement of damaged
' bumpers?
Response: Parking stops are only expected to be removed at locations where membrane work
is being performed.
b. Is water blasting an acceptable prep method for areas the shotblaster cannot access due to
dust concerns with sandblasting?
Response: Water blasting is acceptable, provided that it meets the manufacturer's
recommendations for surface preparation. The blasting must be directed to avoid splashing
into adjacent occupied spaces or outside the garage.
c. Do the lower levels need to be restriped since shotblasting is the required preparation for the
polymer sealer per the manufacturer's data sheet? Addendum #3 stated these levels do not
' require restriping.
Response: Restriping is required only if the striping is damaged as part of the cleaning process.
' If damage to the striping is avoided, then restriping is not expected.
d. Can unit prices be established for crack repairs prior to the polymer sealer installation? Two
types of crack repairs are typically required, one for surface cracks that do not go all the way
through the deck and one for through cracks which require sealing of the crack from the
bottom prior to the sealer application. The amount of cracks will not be fully visible until
shotblasting is performed.
Response: See attached, revised bid sheet in Addendum 3, item 6. This indicates a unit price for
' sealing surface cracks, with a base assumption of 300 linear feet included in the base bid, and a
unit price for sealing of cracks extending through the thickness of the deck, with a base
assumption of 100 linear feet included in the base bid.
e. Can the garage be closed during application of this product as it is very odorous and
overexposure can cause health issues?
' Response: Application of the polymer sealer should be included in the phasing plan, as
discussed in Question 2.
' ITEM 4—The response to Item 13 in Addendum#3 references a note in the drawings that, as
we understand it, is a coating for the rebar. This is noted in the specifications as BASF
MasterProtect 8100 AP. To clarify, is the Surface Applied Corrosion Inhibiting Treatment noted
in 03010, 2.4, B, which is typically two coats that are applied to the horizontal and vertical
' concrete surfaces after the patching has been completed, to be installed? Please clarify if this is
the intended application for this product and if it is only at the concrete patches, either floor or
overhead.
