SUBSTATIONS 11-1 AND 11-2 SECTION 26 11 16
PROJECT#22349762 SECONDARY UNIT SUBSTATIONS
BOEING- EVERETT SITE SERVICES
c. Fault close asymmetrical rating of 61 kA.
d. Fused switch fault close rating of 99 kA Asym rms.
B. Windows: Provide with three rupture-proof viewing windows; two to inspect each set of
switchblades, and one to view the blown fuse indicators (where the selected fuse type
has such indicators).
C. Fuses: Fuses shall be sized as recommended by the transformer manufacturer,
consideririg fan cooling, temperature-rise specification, and cycle loading. Comply with
the following:
1. The selected fuse size shall achieve the best balance of IEEE/ANSI recommended
protection levels, load carrying capability, and coordinate properly with the secondary
switchgear breakers.
2. The sizes shown on the drawings are approximate, and are subject to revision by the
manufacturer, if required, with no change in price.
3. Current-limiting type, rated minimum of 50-kA RMS symmetrical current-interrupting
capacity.
a. Gould-Shawmut CS-3
b. Cutler-Hammer CLE
c. General Electric EJO-1, Type 9F62
4. Indicator integral with each fuse to show when it has blown.
5. Spares: Include three fuses in use and three spare fuses in storage clips in switch.
D. Construction.
1. Dual gang operated quick make/quick break mechanisms which shall operate the
contacts independently of the speed of movement of the operating handle. The
operating handle shall be non-removable.
2. The mechanism shall be field adjustable for alignment, open gap, and sequencing.
3. All switch current carrying components, fuse clips, interconnecting buses, outgoing
buses, and incoming lug landings shall be copper, with silver plating at joints and
terminations.
4. All buses and conductors shall be insulated, except for the switch moving parts and
contacts. Insulation on buses shall consist of Noryl sleeves, or fluidized bed epoxy.
Corners, joints, insulator connection points, and the lug landing pads shall be
insulated with removable PVC boots. Coordinate the boots for the lug landing pads
with the number and size of cable terminations identified. Heat shrink coverings and
insulated tapes are not acceptable.
5. All live parts shall be insulated from ground by polyester.
6. The switch connecting rods shall be polyester insulated.
7. The switch load side bus shall be connected to the transformer incoming terminals
via cables.
8. Each primary termination provision shall have adequate space for termination of four
(4) 15kV 500 kcmil shielded cables per phase from the top and bottom of the air
terrninal chamber, including adequate allowance for cable bending limitations.
a. Provide A.B. Chance ground stud, part#C600-2102, on accessible part of
phase bus in each switch for connection of owner's maintenance grounding
equipment
2611 16-7
(07/15/18)
