The guard is required to bc 42 inclies high, per IBC section 1013.2. <br />a A 4-inch sphere should not pass through thc guard up ro a height of 34 inches, per II3C section <br />10133. <br />d. From a height of 34 inches to 42 inches, a sphere 8 inches in diameter should not pass through <br />the guard, per IBC section 10133. <br />c. The triangular opening fonned by the riscr, tread and bottom rail should not allow ti.e passagc <br />oPa G-inch sphere through the guard, per IBC section 10133. <br />f. A handrail (in addition to the guard on the outside of the stair) is required on both sides of the <br />ncw exit stair, per IBC 1009.10. <br />g. The handrail sl�oulJ be no higher than 38 inchcs and not less than 34 inches above the walking <br />surface, per I13C section 1012.2. <br />h. 1lanJrail extcnsions arc required at the top and bottom of thc stair run, per IBC section I OI2.S. <br />1'he handrails should eatcnd liorizontally at least l2 inches beyond thc top riscr and continuc to <br />slope for the depth oPone trcad bcyond the bottom riscr. <br />These comments address building issues only.
