I <br /> II 1 Engineer's acceptance, fertilizing of the accepted or round vegetated surfaces <br /> 9 <br /> 2 shall begin immediately. <br /> I 3 <br /> 4 In seeding and lawn areas to be fertilized, the fertilizer shall be applied <br /> 5 concurrently with the seed. When fertilizer is hydraulically applied, the fertilizer <br /> I <br /> 6 <br /> 7 shall be suitable for application with seeding as specified in Section 8-02.3(9)C. If <br /> hydroseeding, the fertilizer shall be placed in the hydroseeder tank no more than 1 <br /> 8 hour prior to application. <br /> 9 <br /> I10 Fertilizers for planting areas shall be applied concurrently with compost and <br /> 11 applied prior to incorporation, unless tablet form fertilizer is specified. Where tablet <br /> 12 form fertilizer is specified, fertilizer shall be applied concurrently with plant <br /> I 13 installation. <br /> 14 <br /> 15 Fertilizer sprayed on signs or sign structures shall be removed the same day. <br /> I 16 <br /> 17 Areas not accessible by fertilizing equipment shall be fertilized by allowed <br /> 18 hand methods. <br /> 9 <br /> 2 <br /> 20 Second Application: A second application of fertilizer shall be applied as specified <br /> 21 in the Special Provisions at the locations designated in the Plans. The fertilizer <br /> 22 shall be applied during the months of March, April, or May of the following year <br /> I 23 after the initial seeding, planting, or lawn installation. The fertilizer shall be dry <br /> 24 granular pellets or pearls and applied in accordance with the manufacturer's <br /> 25 recommendations or as specified in the Special Provisions. <br /> I 26 <br /> 27 8-02.3(7) Layout of Planting, Lawn and Seeding Areas <br /> 28 The Contractor shall lay out and prepare planting and lawn areas and receive the <br /> 29 Engineer's acceptance of layout and preparation prior to any installation activities. The <br /> I30 Contractor shall stake the location of all trees larger than 1-inch caliper and the <br /> 31 perimeter of all planting areas for acceptance by the Engineer prior to any <br /> 32 installation activities. <br /> I 33 <br /> 34 The Contractor shall locate all trees to be planted in mowable grass areas a minimum <br /> 35 of 10 feet from the edge of planting areas, other trees, fence lines, and bottom of <br /> I 36 ditches unless otherwise specified. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 Tree locations shown in the Plans shall be considered approximate unless shown with <br /> 39 stationing and offset distance. In irrigated areas, trees shall be located so their trunk is <br /> I40 a minimum of'/ of the spray radius away from the nearest sprinkler head. <br /> 41 <br /> 42 Unless otherwise shown, planting areas located adjacent to Roadways shall begin 6 <br /> 43 feet from the edge of shoulder on roadway fills and begin 5 feet up on the back slope <br /> 44 from the bottom on roadway cut sections. Plants within planting areas shall be located <br /> 45 such that mature branching pattern will not block sight distance, signs, or other traffic- <br /> I 46 related devices. No trees shall be placed where the mature canopy will grow to within <br /> 47 10 feet of existing power lines.
