The Contractor shall replace all plants and associated <br /> 2 materials rejected or missing and correct unsatisfactory conditions. <br /> 3 <br /> 4 Completion of the initial planting within a designated area includes the following <br /> I <br /> 5 <br /> 6 conditions: <br /> 7 1. 100 percent of each of the plant material categories are installed as shown <br /> I 8 in the Plans. <br /> 9 <br /> 10 2. Planting Area is cleaned up. <br /> I 11 <br /> 12 3. Repairs are completed, including but not limited to, full operation of the <br /> 13 irrigation system. <br /> 14 <br /> I 15 4. Mulch coverage is complete. <br /> 16 <br /> 17 5. All weeds are controlled. <br /> I 18 <br /> 19 8-02.3(13) Plant Establishment <br /> 20 Plant establishment consists of caring for all plants and planting areas within the <br /> I 21 project limits. The provisions of Sections 1-07.13(2) and 1-07.13(3) do not apply to <br /> 22 this Section. <br /> 23 <br /> 24 When the Proposal includes the bid item PSIPE (Plant Selection Including Plant <br /> I 25 Establishment), that bid item includes one year of plant establishment Work. The first <br /> 26 year of plant establishment shall begin immediately upon written notification from the <br /> 27 Engineer of the completion of initial planting for the project. The first-year plant <br /> I 28 establishment period shall be a minimum of one calendar year. The one calendar <br /> 29 year shall be extended an amount equal to any periods where the Contractor does <br /> 30 not comply with the plant establishment requirements and plan. <br /> I 31 <br /> 32 During the first-year plant establishment period, the Contractor shall perform all Work <br /> 33 necessary to ensure the resumption and continued growth of the transplanted <br /> 34 material. This Work shall include, but is not limited to, applying water, removing <br /> I 35 foreign, dead, or rejected plant material, maintaining all planting areas in a weed-free <br /> 36 condition, and replacing all unsatisfactory plant material planted under the Contract. <br /> 37 If plants are stolen or damaged by the acts of others, the Contracting Agency will pay <br /> I 38 invoice cost only for the replacement plants with no mark-up and the Contractor will <br /> 39 be responsible for the labor to install the replacement plants. Other weed control <br /> 40 within the project limits but outside of planting, lawn, or seeding areas shall be as <br /> I 41 specified in Section 8-02.3(3)C. <br /> 42 <br /> 43 During the first year of plant establishment, the Contractor shall meet monthly or at <br /> 44 an agreed upon schedule with the Engineer for the purpose of joint inspection of the <br /> I 45 planting material. The Contractor shall correct all unsatisfactory conditions identified <br /> 46 by the Engineer within a 10-day period immediately following the inspection. If plant <br /> 47 replacement is required, the Contractor shall, within the 10-day period, submit a plan <br /> I 48 and schedule for the plant procurement and replacement to occur during the planting <br /> 49 period as designated in Section 8-02.3(8).
