Sectioe 3: NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE. The National Electrical Code <br /> as edited by the National Fire Underwriters and recommended by the National <br /> Fire Protection Association for the year 1965, is hereby adopted as part of <br /> the electrical code of the City of Everett. Three copies of said 1965 <br /> 1 National Electrical Code are on file with the City Clerk of the City of Everett <br /> and such code is hereby made a part of this ordinance as is fully set forth <br /> 2 herein. The National Electrical Code now in force will be kept in force <br /> until this ordinance has been adopted. <br /> 3 <br /> 4 <br /> Section 4: RULES- DEPARTMENT OF LABOR. The rules and regulations <br /> for installing electrical wires and equipment as issued by the Department of <br /> 5 Labor and Industries of the State of Wmshingtpnv September 1, 196 , and the <br /> Department of Labor and Industries Electricians and Electrical Installations <br /> G <br /> Law of the State of Washington, Revisedlq65, are hereby adopted as a part of <br /> the electrical code of the City of Everett. Three copies of said rules and <br /> 7 <br /> regulations of the Department of Labor and Industries and three copies of <br /> said laws as Revised 1963, are on file with the City Clerk of the City of <br /> 8 <br /> Everett, and such code is hereby made a part of this ordinance as is fully <br /> set forth herein. <br /> 9 <br /> 10 <br /> Section 5: BULLETIN 5^01-5. Bulletin 5.01-5 National Fire Pro- <br /> tection Association Mobile Homes and Trevsl Trailers, 1961, publication, is <br /> II <br /> hereby adopted as part of the electrical code of the City of Everett. Three <br /> copies of said rules and regulations are on file with the City Clerk of the <br /> 12 <br /> City of Everett and such code is hereby made a part of this ordinance as is <br /> fully set forth herein. <br /> 13 <br /> 14 <br /> Section 6: ADDITIONAL R[ U|REMENTS^ The following requirements <br /> shall be mandatory for the installation of all electric wiring and installation <br /> 15 <br /> of electrical equipment from and after the date of the adoption of this <br /> ordinoncen and shall be in addition to all requirements of codes herein <br /> 16 <br /> adopted by rmference° <br /> 17 <br /> 1. All electrical wiring in all buildings, except single family <br /> dwellings, shall be installed in approved metal raceways. All residential <br /> 18 <br /> buildinge, except single family dwellings and excluding hotels located outside <br /> of Fire District 1 and 2 may be wired with non-metallic cable if each <br /> 19 <br /> occupancy has a door opening directly to the outside of the building to pro- <br /> vide ready access from the building, and all feeders and sub-feeders are <br /> 20 <br /> enclosed in an approved metal raceway on buildings of two stories or more. <br /> 21 <br /> 2. All service entrance conductors shall be in approved metal <br /> reoewaye. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 3. Not more than 10 outlets will be allowed on any circuit. On a <br /> permanently fixed load, the load shall not exceed 80h of the rating of the <br /> wire an6/"r the protective device. <br /> 24 ' - <br /> 25 4. As to new residence only, the following sizes shall be the mini- <br /> mumv but in no case be less than required by the National Electrical Code: <br /> 26 Houses with a floor area up to 1200 square feet shall have a minimum service <br /> of 100 amperes. Dwellings of 1200 to 1800 equare feet of floor area shall <br /> 27 have a minimum size service of 150 amperes. Dwellings having a floor area of <br /> over 1800 square feet shall have a minimum size service or 200 amperes. <br /> 28 <br /> 5. Service panels in a multiple-family dwelling shall have a mini- <br /> 29 mum rating of 100 amperes for each apartment. <br /> 30 6. All service panels shall have at least two spore spaces for <br /> future circuits after wiring is completed. <br /> 31 <br /> 7. Except for large load centers, all service equipment, including <br /> 32 switohea` gutters and sub-feed switchesv shall be mounted not more than <br /> seven feet, nor less than three feet from the floor or permanent working <br /> platform. <br /> -2- <br />
