27. In the installation of motors of 1/3 horsepower and over, such
<br /> motors shall be supplied by a special purpose circuit. The total connected
<br /> horsepower on these. circuits shall be in conformity with the National Electrical
<br /> Code. Special purpose circuits shall not be used to supply general lighting
<br /> 1 or utility circuits.
<br /> 2 28. All wiring of more than 24 volts in the following classes of
<br /> buildings shall be installed in conduit, electrical metallic tubing or other
<br /> 3 approved raceways in the following areas and occupancies as defined by the
<br /> National Electrical Code: All buildings in Fire Zones 1 and 2. International
<br /> 4 Conference of Building Officials Uniform Building Code as adopted by the City
<br /> of Everett: Part of Table 5A, Group occupancies as follows: Group A,
<br /> 5 assembly building 1000 or more; Group B, assembly buildings, stadiums, re-
<br /> viewing stands, amusement parks (with or without stage); roup C, schools;
<br /> 6 Group D, hospitals, sanitariums, nurseries, homes for aged (over 5 persons);
<br /> Group E, storage of hazardous and flammable materials, factories handling
<br /> 7 combustibles, repair garages, aircraft hangers; Group F, gasoline stations,
<br /> stores, factories, restaurants, office buildings and open parking garages;
<br /> 8 Group G, ice plants, power plants, pumping plants, cold storage, and
<br /> creameries, factories and workshops using incombustible and non-explosive
<br /> 9 materials, storage and sales rooms of incombustible and non-explosive
<br /> materials; Group H, hotels, apartment houses, dormitories, lodging houses,
<br /> 10 convents, monasteries (over 10 persons).
<br /> 11 29. Service entrance cable shall not be used as branch circuits
<br /> unless granted in answer to a written request filed with and by the
<br /> 12 electrical inspector.
<br /> 13 30. All conduits, fittings and boxes used outside of building,
<br /> within the waterfront area, shall be rigid conduit, sheridized, galvanized
<br /> 14 or approved type plastic.
<br /> 15 Section 7: NON-TAMPERABLE FUSE PLUGS REQUIRED. Plug fuses and
<br /> holders of non-tamperable type shall be installed in all public buildings,
<br /> 16 commercial buildings, hotels and apartment houses, except single family
<br /> dwellings, and all such buildings not conforming to This requirement shall be
<br /> 17 made to conform within 30 days from the adoption of this ordinance.
<br /> 18 Section 8: SIGN ON TRUCKS. It shall be unlawful for any person or
<br /> persons, firm, partnership or corporation engaged in the electrical business
<br /> 19 to operate a truck, fleet of trucks, or vehicle used for the purpose of con-
<br /> veying electrical supplies, materials, and tools used for the purpose of
<br /> 20 performing electrical work to and from electrical job sites, unless such
<br /> truck or vehicles so used has plainly displayed thereon the name of the person,
<br /> 21 firm, partnership or corporation operating such truck or vehicle.
<br /> 22 Section 9: PERMIT - REQUIRED. It shall be unlawful for any person,
<br /> 23 firm or corporation to install, alter, replace or extend any electrical
<br /> equipment without first obtaining and having in full force and effect, a
<br /> 2 permit for such installation, alteration, replacement or extension from the
<br /> City Electrical Inspector of the City of Everett.
<br /> 25 Application for permit for such installation, replacement, alteration
<br /> or extension of any electrical equipment, together with required fee, shall be
<br /> 26 filed with the City Electrical Inspector, which application shall state the
<br /> name of the owner or occupant of the premises, the location of the same and
<br /> 27 the nature and extent of the work to be performed, and evidence that the
<br /> applicant has a current unrevoked license issued by the State of Washington.
<br /> 28 The City Electrical Inspector shall issue such permit when the application
<br /> therefore complies with the provision of this chapter.
