••
Water Department's expense at any time the Superintendent considers that
conditions warrant such renewal.
Section 29: Dormant Services - Connections. Any service connection
which shall have been inactive, unused or abandoned for a period of five (5)
years shall be considered a dormant service and may be removed from the
main by the Water Department. If a service connection is subsequently
desired for all or a portion of the premises or property previously supplied
by a dormant service, the owner of the premises or property or his authorized
agent shall make application and pay for a new service connection in the
manner prescribed herein and without any credit whatsoever for the dormant
service.
Section 30: Service Connection Transfer To New Main. In the event
a service connection to any premises is not connected to a main in front of or
immediately adjacent to said premises, then at such time as a main is
in stalled in front of or adjacent to said premises, the Water Department shall,
after notifying the owner thereof, transfer the service connection to the new
main without charge and immediately thereafter remove the old service
connection. The owner shall, at the same time and at his expense, connect
his existing piping and plumbing facilities to the new service cock or meter
so installed.
Section 31: Service Pipe - New Plats - Street Paving. At such time
as the Water Department is installing a section of distribution system piping
in a new plat or subdivision under a street which is to be paved after completion
of the water main installation, the Water Department shall, at the same time,
install water service piping extending from the main under and across that
portion of the street which is to be paved to each of the platted lots on the
side of the street opposite the new main. It is the intent of this Section to
minimize the number of "open-cuts" required across a newly paved street in
order to provide water service to subsequently constructed homes on the side
- 15-
