2513-3
Task 1 —Review Existing Information. Review previous studies of the subsurface conditions and
conceptual designs near the Interstate 5 (I-5) and to the east, designated as Reaches 1, 2, and 3 from
Station DD5-A-325+00 to DD5-A-343+00. Comforth will review the design and as-built documents
of the previous repairs performed by the USACE as provided by Otak and Diking District 5. Assumes
8 hours for this task. Task Total= $1,650.
Task 2 — Final Design of Dike under Interstate 5 (STA DD5-A-340+46 to DD5-A-343+00).
Cornforth Consultants (CCI) propose to perform final geotechnical design of the dike repairs and
provide input to develop construction plans and technical specifications for geotechnical aspects of the
work. Tasks included in the proposed scope of work are described in more detail below. Cornforth
would provide input for the final geotechnical design of the dike repairs for Station DD5-A-340+46 to
DD5-A-343+00 (Reach 3). Final design for under I-5 (Reach 3) would consist of extending the dike
on the landside as previously described in Otak's previous memo. This design option involves moving
the dike footprint to the landside to develop an adequate seepage barrier. This task includes
development of a geologic and analysis section through the dike to evaluate the stability. The analytical
section would be used to evaluate the preferred repair option and develop final dike geometry. Final
design will include input on drawings for 90% and 100% design submittals for review and comment
by DD5. Task Total=$8,800.
Task 3 — Final Design of Dike STA DD5-A-325+00 to DD5-A-340+46. Cornforth would provide
input for the final geotechnical design of the dike repairs for Station DD5-A-325+00 to DD5-A-340+46
(Reaches 1 and 2). Final design would include input on drawings for 90%and 100%design submittals
for review and comment by DD5. This work will be performed along with the previously approved
work to design repair for the dike from I-5 to SR-529 (Station DD5-A-343+00 to DD5-A-376+50).
Task Total=$4,900.
Task 4 —Plans, Specification and Estimates. CCI would provide input on construction drawings,
specifications and cost estimate for geotechnical aspects of the project. Drawings will be created by
Otak with review and redline edits by CCI. We anticipate the following sheets would be required to
convey the geotechnical aspects of construction for bidding purposes.
• Site plan and typical sections for repairs from DD5-A-340+46 to DD5-A-343+00 (up to 2
sheets)
• Typical sections of dike repairs from DD5-A-325+00 to DD5-A-340+46 (up to 3 sheets)
• Details sheet(up to 2 sheets);
CCI will provide input on construction material quantities and conceptual construction costs. This task
includes input to develop an engineer's estimate for budgeting and bidding purposes. Task Total =
$8,150.
Task S—Bidding Assistance. This task assumes Comforth would provide up to 10 hours of assistance
to OTAK and DD5 during the construction bidding process. This task could include responding to
geotechnical related queries, input for construction documents addenda, and input on Contractor
selection. Task Total=$1,900.
Assumptions:
October 18, 2019 2 Cornforth Consultants, Inc.
