Removal of structures or obstructions not specifically covered under other Bid Items. <br /> This shall include, but not be limited to, removal and disposal of the existing asphalt or <br /> concrete pavement, sidewalk, curb, thrust blocks, miscellaneous landscaping, and sod <br /> as indicated on the Plans. <br /> 2. All required potholing to verify locations of water service crossings and existing utilities. <br /> The costs for pot-holing and excavation required to determine exact depths and <br /> locations of other utilities shall be included with this Work with no direct compensation <br /> I made. <br /> 3. Utility or light pole holding in conformance with the requirements of the applicable utility <br /> including, if necessary, arranging for the utility to hold poles and paying the associated <br /> fees. <br /> 1 4. Trench excavation and dewatering, installation of pipe, furnishing, placing and <br /> compacting sand backfill for pipe bedding, furnishing, placing and compacting suitable <br /> native material for trench backfill and placing and compacting imported backfill material. <br /> No extra payment shall be made for removing, loading, hauling, and disposing of <br /> displaced and unsuitable material. <br /> 5. Maintenance, restoration and/or relocation, if required, of existing culverts, storm <br /> drainage pipe, other utilities and structures affected by construction that are to remain. <br /> 6. Temporary and permanent thrust blocking and dead man blocks, and temporary and <br /> permanent restraint systems as noted on the Plans and these Special Provisions. <br /> 7. Ethafoam pads or sand backfill between watermain and other pipes. <br /> 8. Maintenance of existing watermain and provisions for interim water service. <br /> 9. Pressure and purity testing of all watermains and shall include providing temporary blow- <br /> offs, backflow prevention, air gap apparatus, flushing, and disinfecting as necessary for <br /> testing in accordance with 7-09.3(24) of these Special Provisions and COE Standard <br /> Drawing No. 526. <br /> 10. Extra depth, including excavation, backfill and compaction required to clear known <br /> buried utilities or other known obstacles. <br /> 11. Abandonment of existing watermains as shown on the Plans, including cutting, draining <br /> water and properly disposing of, and plugging pipe at each end with a minimum of 2-feet <br /> of Commercial concrete or CDF. Include the concrete or CDF work with this work with <br /> no direct compensation being made. Abandon existing mains in place where possible. <br /> Include cost of removal, hauling, and disposal of existing main with these Bid items when <br /> abandoning in place is not possible. Include closing existing valves being abandoned <br /> in-place, and providing blind flange where noted, and removing the lids and valve boxes. <br /> 12.
