tCITY OF EVERETT SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br /> 1 7-09.1(1) Definitions <br /> 7-09.1(1)D Pipe Zone Backfill <br /> Revise the first paragraph in 7-09.1(1)D to read as follows: <br /> Pipe zone backfill includes material placed a minimum of 6-inches below the <br /> bottom of pipe up to a minimum of 12-inches above the top of pipe as shown <br /> I on COE Standard Drawing No. 615. <br /> 7-09.2 Materials <br /> Substitute the following for the corresponding material in the material list in 7-09.2: <br /> Ductile Iron Pipe 9-30.1(1) Special Provisions <br /> Ductile Iron Pipe 9-30.1(3) Special Provisions <br /> Fittings 9-30.2 Special Provisions <br /> Restrained Joints <br /> 9-30.2(6) Special Provisions <br /> Bolted, Sleeve—Type Couplings 9-30.2(7) Special Provisions <br /> for Plain End Pipe <br /> Aggregates: <br /> Pipe Zone Backfill 9-03.22 Special Provisions <br /> Controlled Density Fill 2.09.3(1)E Special Provisions <br /> 1 7-09.3 Construction Requirements <br /> 7-09.3(5) Grade and Alignment <br /> Revise the first sentence of the third paragraph in 7-09.3(5) to read as follows: <br /> Provide minimum cover from the final surface grade to the top of the pipe of 36- <br /> inches for watermains less than 12-inches in diameter and 48-inches for <br /> watermains 12-inches or greater in diameter. Provide 60-inches as the maximum <br /> depth from the final surface grade to the top of all watermain pipes. Adhere to both <br /> minimum and maximum depths from finish grades unless Plans indicate otherwise. <br /> 7-09.3(7) Trench Excavation <br /> Revise the second paragraph in 7-09.3(7) to read as follows: <br /> Excavate bell holes to the extent necessary to permit accurate Work in making and <br /> inspecting the joints. Keep the banks of the trenches as nearly vertical as soil <br /> conditions will permit, and where required to control trench width or to protect <br /> adjacent Structures, sheet and brace the trench. Provide trench widths to 1 foot <br /> 1 above the top of the pipe in accordance with COE Standard Drawing No. 614. <br /> Standard excavating equipment shall be adjusted so as to excavate the narrowest <br /> trench possible. <br /> ' 7-09.3(7)A Dewatering of Trench <br /> Supplement 7-09.3(7)A by adding the following: <br /> Furnish, install, and operate necessary machinery, appliances, and equipment <br /> to keep excavations free from water during construction. <br /> Trench dewatering shall be included with the Work with no direct compensation <br /> made. <br /> i7-09.3(8) Removal and Replacement of Unsuitable Materials <br /> ■ Delete all three paragraphs of 7-09.3(8) and substitute the following: <br /> Remove Engineer classified unsuitable material at the trench bottom and replace <br /> with "Foundation Material Class A or B", or other Engineer approved imported or <br /> native material. <br /> Replace, at Contractor's expense, unauthorized over-excavation with Gravel <br /> Borrow.
