CITY OF EVERETT SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br /> Work also includes abandoning existing service connection and service connection pipe , <br /> in-place. <br /> Supplement 7-15.1 as follows: <br /> 7-15.1(1) Submittals <br /> (******) <br /> Provide Type 2 Working Drawings for all materials and Standard Plans. <br /> 7-15.2 Materials <br /> Delete first paragraph and material list of 7-15.2 and substitute the following: <br /> Provide materials meeting the requirements of the following sections: 1 <br /> Saddles 9-30.6(1) Special Provisions <br /> Corporation Stops 9-30.6(2) Special Provisions <br /> Service Pipe 9-30.6(3) Special Provisions <br /> Service Fittings 9-30.6(4) Special Provisions <br /> Meter Setters 9-30.6(5) Special Provisions <br /> Meter Boxes 9-30.6(7) Special Provisions <br /> Brass Nipples and 9-30.6(8) Special Provisions <br /> Fittings <br /> 7-15.3 Construction Requirements <br /> Revise the first paragraph in 7-15.3 to read as follows: <br /> Provide new service connections to new watermains using specified saddles of the size <br /> and type suitable for use with the service pipe being installed. Install new service <br /> connection piping from the main to the meter box as shown on the Plans and directed <br /> by the City Inspector. Install service connection piping perpendicular to the main, unless <br /> shown otherwise on the Plans or directed by the City Inspector. , <br /> Revise the second paragraph in 7-15.3 to read as follows: <br /> Provide trench depth adequate to maintain a minimum of 30-inches of cover over the <br /> top of the connecting service pipe. Exercise particular care to ensure that the main is <br /> not damaged by the Work undertaken to install the service. Excavate and backfill for <br /> service connections as specified in Section 7-09; except, use approved boring methods <br /> to install the service pipeline under cement concrete pavement, curbs, and sidewalks. I <br /> Supplement 7-15.3 by adding the following: <br /> Provide service connections to watermains and reconnections to existing services in <br /> accordance with details noted in the Plans. Do NOT crimp service line pipe. Test against <br /> curb stop as noted in details in the Plans. <br /> Field verify actual service connection location, size and material as existing service <br /> information and locations shown on the Plans may not be accurate since this information <br /> is taken from existing records. Match the service size of the existing service connection <br /> with the minimum service size being 3/4-inch. Should the planned location require 111moving after verifying actual service connection in field, City Inspector and the City Utility <br /> Department personnel will make final decision as to its relocation. <br /> If soil conditions and other existing buried utilities allow, Contractor may select to bore <br /> service connection lines, regardless of size, under pavement section, curbs and <br /> sidewalks in lieu of open trenching at the Contract Price for water service installation. <br /> Open—cut lawn areas and other non-pavement areas for service installation unless City <br /> Inspector directs otherwise. The City Inspector may, at the Contractors request, allow <br /> tunneling under curb and sidewalk as long as it appears no structural damage will be <br /> done to curb or sidewalk as a result of the tunneling operations. Regardless of the <br /> method used, the Contractor shall maintain a minimum of 30-inch cover over the service <br /> connection line.
