4 <br /> 3. A medical leave of absence longer than one hundred and eighty(180) days is at <br /> the discretion of the SWAT Director. <br /> G. Physical Fitness Standards-Each tactical team member shall be required to successfully <br /> pass the established physical fitness standards on a quarterly basis(See Appendix A). <br /> Testing shall be administered by the Team Leader or his designee. <br /> 1. If a team member is absent during physical fitness testing,they are required to <br /> complete the test on or before their next scheduled SWAT training session. <br /> 2. Team members who fail to meet the physical fitness standards shall be given 30 <br /> days in which to successfully pass the physical fitness test. If the team member <br /> fails the re-test they shall be automatically placed on inactive status. The team <br /> member has until then end of the next training quarter to pass the physical fitness <br /> standards or membership with the team may be terminated. Any action in this <br /> regard shall be the ultimate decision of the SWAT Director. <br /> VI. TRAINING <br /> A. SWAT Members-All SWAT members shall attend and successfully complete the SWAT <br /> Basic Course offered by the Washington State Training Commission or a comparable <br /> basic SWAT course as determined by the SWAT Commander prior to being fully <br /> operational. The SWAT team shall train an average of sixteen(16)hours monthly, which <br /> includes monthly training dates,multi-day trainings, and annual training. <br /> All team members shall be required to attend scheduled training unless otherwise excused <br /> by the SWAT Commander or Team Leader. Failure to attend more than two scheduled <br /> trainings per quarter, or six trainings per year, shall be cause for removal from the team <br /> unless prior approval had been granted. Removal from the team may only be determined <br /> by the SWAT Commander and the Chief of Police or Sheriff. <br /> . Firearms training shall be conducted by an approved firearms instructor. Training shall <br /> emphasize accuracy and proficiency with any weapon assigned to the member. The <br /> SWAT Commander shall ensure that each team member is competent and accurate with <br /> his assigned weapon(s). Any deficiencies in firearms skills,which cause the member to <br /> fail the monthly qualification course and two re-tests on that day, shall be noted and <br /> further training shall be required and documented. Until such time the member can be <br /> remediated and retested he shall be placed on inactive status. Failure to qualify at two <br /> consecutive firearms qualifications shall be cause for removal from the team. Removal <br /> from the team may only be determined by the SWAT Commander and the Chief of Police <br /> or Sheriff of the member's agency. <br /> Revised 12/2013 13 <br /> 34 <br />
