#air <br /> i n+T I <br /> EVE—iZril7 <br /> ORDINANCE NO. <br /> An Ordinance Relating to Utility Fire Service Connections, <br /> Amending Section 48 of Ordinance 1237-86 <br /> (EMC 14.16.480). <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter EMC 14.16.480 concerns ownership and costs related for utility fire <br /> service connections; and <br /> WHEREAS,the City wishes to clarify EMC 14.16.480 with respect to responsibility between <br /> the City and property owners for fire service connections; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1. EMC 14.16.480 (Ord. 1237-86 § 48, 1986),which reads as follows: <br /> All fire service connections shall be installed by and remain the property of the <br /> utilities division unless otherwise authorized by the utilities superintendent. The <br /> utilities division shall own, operate and maintain the fire service from and <br /> including the connection to the main to and including the fire service meter or <br /> detector check meter and vault. A valve may be provided downstream of the <br /> meter for the customer to use as a shutoff. The expense for all labor,materials and <br /> equipment rental required for tapping mains,making connections,placing valves, <br /> meters or any other protective device deemed necessary by the utilities <br /> superintendent to prevent the unauthorized use of water,including the testing of <br /> completed work, shall be paid by the customer. <br /> is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> All fire service connections shall be installed by and remain the property of the <br /> utilities division unless otherwise authorized by the utilities superintendent.
