• <br /> All sewer ditches must be open full length from the main <br /> sewer to the connection with the house or premises to be <br /> connected and shall be well bedded before calling for in- <br /> spection, and must be left uncovered until inspected, <br /> provided if the enforcement of the above rule interferes <br /> with traffic on the street , such sewer or lateral shall <br /> be installed in such manner as the Inspector of Sewers <br /> and Plumbing shall determine. All cement used in laying <br /> sewers must be mixed in proportion of not less than two <br /> of fine sand and one of good cement, and all joints must <br /> be properly cemented. All side sewers connected to a <br /> sanitary sewer shall be constructed of pipe jointed with <br /> rubber gasket joints. All persons laying sewers must <br /> clean all of the cement out of the sewers with a swab. <br /> Whenever a combined sewer is available, all downspouts <br /> shall be connected to that sewer in a manner approved by <br /> the City Engineer or his duly authorized representatives. <br /> Not more than one building shall be connected to a side <br /> sewer, except by permission of the City Engineer. In all <br /> cases where there are houses on separate lots, they must <br /> be connected separately to the main sewer, whether such <br /> lots are owned by the same person or by different persons. <br /> If two houses are situated on the same lot, one connection <br /> to the main sewer may be permitted if approved by the City <br /> Engineer. <br /> Any one single .family residence shall be connected with <br /> no less than 4" diameter pipe from the properly line to <br /> the building or premises to be connected, and any multiple <br /> dwelling, industrial or commercial building or group of <br /> two single family residences shall be connected from the <br /> property line to the building or premises with not less <br /> than 6" diameter pipe. <br /> Every piece of sewer pipe used in side sewer construction <br /> work shall have a bell . <br /> All vaults or privies shall be disinfected and filled <br /> with fresh earth and all septic tanks, cesspools and <br /> similar installations shall be disinfected and filled with <br /> fresh earth at the time of the discontinuance of the use <br /> thereof. <br /> Before any side sewer may be located on any building site, <br /> other than that owned by the owner of the side sewer, the <br /> owner of the side sewer shall secure from the owner of <br /> said building site a written easement , duly acknowledged <br /> covering the granting the right to occupy such property <br /> for such purpose and such written easement shall , by the <br /> owner of the sewer, be recorded in the office of the <br /> County Auditor before the City Engineer shall issue a <br /> permit authorizing the laying of the side sewer in any <br /> building site other than the one served by it . The owner <br /> shall exhibit to the City Engineer the recording number <br /> of the easement when required to do so, <br /> - 5 - <br />
