•
SEPA ENVIRONMENTAL CHECKLIST FOR
Beverly Park Switching Station Expansion AGENCY
P.U.D. NO. 1 of Snohomish County USE
2) What types and levels of noise would be created by or associated with the project on
a short-term or a long-term basis (for example: traffic, construction, operation,
other)? Indicate what hours noise would come from the site.
• Short-term equipment noise will be from construction. The construction
activities will generally be limited to the hours between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
• The 230kV-115kV transformers will be a sound source. Typically the sound
consists of an audible low intensity "humming" and air circulation from
cooling fans. This sound is related to the level of electrical load on the
transformer and can occur at any time. High-efficiency, low sound level
transformers will be specified for the project.
• The project will comply with the City's noise ordinance. The District has
prepared an acoustical study for the project("Sound analysis for Beverly
Park Switching Station", prepared by BRC Acoustics&Technology.
Consulting, October 12, 2007). This study will be revised when the final
configuration of the station is developed and the transformers are
procured.
3) Proposed measures to reduce or control noise impacts, if any:
• Low sound level transformers will be specified for the project. If the
combined noise level of the background noise and the transformer sound
exceeds the limits specified by the current City Code, based on the
acoustical study, sound attenuation will be incorporated into the site
design.
8. Land and Shoreline Use
a. What is the current use of the site and adjacent properties?
• The site is currently used as an electrical transmission switching station.
The adjacent properties to the north and south are low density residential;
to the east the property is not developed and to the west is a mixed
neighborhood of commercial and residential.
b. Has the site been used for agriculture? If so, describe.
• No.
3
