The project involves Level 2 Alterations to the building per IEBC Chapter 8. Accessibility improvements per IEBC <br /> Section 705.2 shall be included in the project. Where the primary space is made to be less than fully-accessible per one of <br /> the exceptions,documentation substantiating the limited accessibility improvements shall be submitted for review. Where <br /> Exception 1 is used,the documentation shall itemize the improvements and estimated cost of work associated with each <br /> item. See IEBC Section 806.1. <br /> Response: The Pharmacy Replacement maintains the current full accessibility of the existing Providence Medical Center <br /> facility. IEBC Section 806.1 references IEBC Section 705 for compliance with Accessibility requirements.Per IEBC Section <br /> 705 alterations are to comply with Section 705.1.1 through 705.1.14 and Chapter 11 of the IBC. Section 705.2 indicates where <br /> an alteration affects the accessibility to a primary function,the route to the primary function shall be accessible.Per section <br /> 1103.2 of the 2015 IBC for Employee Work Areas, spaces and elements within employee work areas shall only be required to <br /> comply with sections 907.5.3.2.3.1, 1009 and 1104.3.1,and shall be designed and constructed so that individuals with <br /> disabilities can approach,enter and exit the work area.Two accessible routes have been maintained to the Replacement <br /> Pharmacy per Section 1009. Common use circulation paths within the employee work area are to be accessible routes per <br /> 1104.3.1.Accessible routes to parking have been shown on new sheets A2.01 and A2.02 which provide overall plans'of the <br /> PRMCE Facility. <br /> 7. Room C2-045 on Sheet A6.01 is a new accessible bathroom. Elevations for Room C2-045 are provided on Sheet A7.02. <br /> Standard plumbing details are provided on Sheet A7.01. See IBC Section 1102.1,and references below to ICC A117.1-09 <br /> unless noted otherwise. The following comments shall be addressed: <br /> a. The rear grab bar does not appear to comply with Figure 604.5.2. <br /> b. Locate the water closet flush control on the open side per Section 604.6. <br /> c. Specify signage outside the door on Sheet A6.01 per IBC Section 1111.1. <br /> Response: <br /> a. Per ICC A117.1-09,Section 604.5.2,Exception (1) allows the rear grab bar to be permitted to be 24 inches <br /> minimum in length, centered on the water closet,where wall space does not permit a grab bar 36 inches <br /> minimum in length due to the location of a recessed fixture adjacent to the water closet.The sink is in a <br /> recessed area adjacent to the toilet not permitting the rear grab bar to be 36"in length. <br /> b. Location of flush control added to Elevation 11/A7.02. <br /> c. Signage is to be owner furnished,owner installed.Added note to sheet A7.01 to provide signage at accessible <br /> toilet room to meet IBC Section 1111.1. <br /> (Comment 07/17/19) 7c. I recommend providing a note on Sheet A6.01 indicating the required location of the signage. <br /> Response:Note indicating signage location has been added to Sheet A6.01. <br /> 8. The proposed work areas includes a new single-user unisex bathroom at Grid D/3 per Sheet A6.01. The occupant load <br /> for the new pharmacy area is 46 per Sheet A0.21. It appears that the new restroom is required because other facilities on <br /> this floor are located within suites or private rooms, and are therefore not accessible. A minimum of one male and one <br /> female restroom is required per IBC Table 2902.1 Item 5 for an I-2 occupancy. An additional restroom shall be provided, <br /> or documentation shall be submitted demonstrating that the existing facilities are sufficient to support this area in addition <br /> to the existing building load. The restrooms routes shall be accessible per Section 2902.3.1 and shall comply with Section <br /> 2902.3.2. See IBC Sections 2902.1.1 and 2902.2. <br /> Response:The new restroom has been added as a convenience for Pharmacy Employees and as a requirement of the FGI <br /> Standards for pharmacy design.An overall plan,Sheet A2.02,has been added to the set to show the entire floor of the facility <br />
