ZG 925 Fourth Avenue
Suite 2400 Memo
Seattle,WA 98104
206 623 9414 Date August 14,2019
F 206 623 7868
Project No. S23240
ZIMMER GUNSUL FRASCA ARCHITECTS LLP Project Name PRMCE—Colby Campus
Pharmacy Replacement
aP g No. 7 of
Round 3 Comments—Received 8/13/19
Architectural:
4. Detail 4/A8.02 has been added and specified spray applied fire-proofing per UL D710. Modify the detail as follows:
a. The listed assembly requires minimum 3/4" thickness for the sides and recessed (i.e.,upper) surface of the deck.
b.The detail shall show the L4 perimeter support per Sheet S1.01 and specify a minimum thickness of 3/4".
c. Provide a requirement for special inspection of the fireproofing per IBC Section 1705.14.
Response:
a. Detail 4/A8.02 has been updated to indicate 3/4"thickness on the sides and upper surface of the deck.
b. Detail 4/A8.02 has been updated to show the steel angle perimeter support per SSK-001.A minimum of%"
thickness has been added to the detail at the steel angle support.
c. A note for special inspection for the fireproofing to meet requirements per IBC Section 1705.14 has been added to
the Special Inspections section on Sheet A0.02.
10. Detail 10/A8.24 has been added. Modify the detail as follows:
d.UL C-BJ-7006 Item 2 specifies a maximum dimension of 49.5 inches. Sheet A6.03 appears to indicate a maximum
dimension of up to 60 inches, which exceeds the limit for this detail. Verify the duct dimensions and revise the
design as needed. Also verify the cross-sectional duct area does not exceed the specified limits.
e.Continuing with the previous comment, the listed assembly appears intended for a single duct, not two ducts placed
side-by-side, such that a gap may occur between the adjacent duct surfaces. Verify if one or two ducts are present,
and for the latter verify if the listed assembly has been tested for this configuration.
f. Continuing with the previous comment,if two ducts occur, but are separated by a section of concrete slab, the
structural engineer shall verify the integrity of the concrete strip to remain. Note that Sheet 1.01 both shows and
specifies a single opening.
g.Verify that the existing roof slab is a minimum of 8"thick. Show this dimension on the detail. See UL C-BJ-7006
Item 1.
h.The duct appears to require a damper. A damper rated for a 2-hour assembly shall be provided. See IBC Sections
712.1.6 and 717.6. Note that per Sheet A0.01,the building includes I-2,A-2,A-3,and B occupancies.
i. Provide a requirement for special inspection of the fire-stop per IBC Section 1705.17.
Response:Per email from Drew Martin on 8/14/19, the response to this comment may be a deferred submittal to be
submitted later to the city for review and approval.
Structural:
1a(vii).The 4-inch edge distance does not appear to be specified.
Response: Sketch SSK-001 on Sheet S1.01 has been updated to indicate a 4"edge distance.
