5.12 Repair of Damage Caused by Design-Builder <br /> In addition to correction of defective work as set forth in Article 2, Section 2.10 of the General <br /> Conditions, and in addition to Design-Builder's obligations under Article 7 of the General Conditions, <br /> Design-Builder shall be responsible for the repair of any and all changes to the existing conditions to <br /> the site and existing structures resulting from the Work.The recordings and verification processes <br /> described above will be used by the City to determine if the condition resulted from the work of the <br /> Design-Builder. If repairs are deemed necessary,the Design-Builder shall submit a proposed repair <br /> plan and procedures to the City Representative for approval prior to commencing any corrective <br /> actions. <br /> ARTICLE 6. DEMOLITION <br /> 6.1 General Requirements <br /> The following requirements shall apply to all demolition activities. Design-Builder shall: <br /> 1. Acquaint itself with the hazards of the work which shall include, but not be limited to lead-based <br /> paint on the structure, corroded components, high wind velocities, electrical shock, cutting and <br /> welding spark which could cause fire or spark damage to property or painted surfaces,the <br /> possibility of contaminating the soil, and the proximity of the residences, businesses, overhead <br /> power lines, and streets. <br /> 2. Conduct demolition work in a workmanlike manner and protect existing facilities and minimize <br /> impact to property adjacent to the Site.This may include measures such as providing temporary <br /> dust-proof partitions and temporary weather protection to prevent damage to exposed facilities <br /> or other measures. <br /> 3. Execute work using methods that will prevent interference with the Owner's use of on-site and <br /> adjacent facilities and properly surround the area with a barrier fence to keep bystanders out. <br /> 4. Prevent oils, solvents, organic compounds, lead, and any other contaminants from leaching into <br /> the soil. <br /> 5. Where items are removed, repair all abutting features disturbed by removal. Use methods and <br /> materials similar in appearance, and equal in quality to areas or surfaces being repaired as <br /> approved by the Owner's Representative. If areas,surfaces, or items cannot be satisfactorily <br /> matched and patched, replace at no additional expense to the Owner. <br /> 6. Remove embedded anchor bolts and/or exposed reinforcing to a minimum of 3/4" below finished <br /> face of concrete and apply an epoxy concrete patch acceptable for use with potable water. <br /> 7. Promptly remove all demolished items and materials from the site. <br /> 6.2 Salvage <br /> No items for salvage have been identified by the City. However,the City reserves the right to <br /> designate certain items for salvage prior to issuing the first Demolition Notice to Proceed. If items <br /> are designated for salvage, items shall be properly disconnected and removed to retain their full <br /> salvage value and use,and Design-Builder shall cooperate with City when segregating and storing <br /> these materials on site.Transport to permanent storage location(s)shall be provided by the City. <br /> City of Everett January 29,2020 <br /> Water Filtration Plant East Clearwell Roof Replacement DB Project Supplementary Conditions Page 16 <br />
