5.12 Repair of Damage Caused by Design-Builder
In addition to correction of defective work as set forth in Article 2, Section 2.10 of the General
Conditions, and in addition to Design-Builder's obligations under Article 7 of the General Conditions,
Design-Builder shall be responsible for the repair of any and all changes to the existing conditions to
the site and existing structures resulting from the Work. The recordings and verification processes
described above will be used by the City to determine if the condition resulted from the work of the
Design-Builder. If repairs are deemed necessary, the Design-Builder shall submit a proposed repair
plan and procedures to the City Representative for approval prior to commencing any corrective
actions.
ARTICLE 6. DEMOLITION
6.1 General Requirements
The following requirements shall apply to all demolition activities. Design-Builder shall:
1. Acquaint itself with the hazards of the work which shall include, but not be limited to lead-based
paint on the structure, corroded components, high wind velocities, electrical shock, cutting and
welding spark which could cause fire or spark damage to property or painted surfaces, the
possibility of contaminating the soil, and the proximity of the residences, businesses, overhead
power lines, and streets.
2. Conduct demolition work in a workmanlike manner and protect existing facilities and minimize
impact to property adjacent to the Site. This may include measures such as providing temporary
dust-proof partitions and temporary weather protection to prevent damage to exposed facilities
or other measures.
3. Execute work using methods that will prevent interference with the Owner's use of on-site and
adjacent facilities and properly surround the area with a barrier fence to keep bystanders out.
4. Prevent oils, solvents, organic compounds, lead, and any other contaminants from leaching into
the soil.
5. Where items are removed, repair all abutting features disturbed by removal. Use methods and
materials similar in appearance, and equal in quality to areas or surfaces being repaired as
approved by the Owner's Representative. If areas, surfaces, or items cannot be satisfactorily
matched and patched, replace at no additional expense to the Owner.
6. Remove embedded anchor bolts and/or exposed reinforcing to a minimum of 3/4" below finished
face of concrete and apply an epoxy concrete patch acceptable for use with potable water.
7. Promptly remove all demolished items and materials from the site.
6.2 Salvage
No items for salvage have been identified by the City. However, the City reserves the right to
designate certain items for salvage prior to issuing the first Demolition Notice to Proceed. If items
are designated for salvage, items shall be properly disconnected and removed to retain their full
salvage value and use,and Design-Builder shall cooperate with City when segregating and storing
these materials on site.Transport to permanent storage location(s)shall be provided by the City.
City of Everett January 29,2020
Water Filtration Plant East Clearwell Roof Replacement DB Project Supplementary Conditions Page 16
