ARTICLE 8. EAST CLEARWELL ROOF WATER-TIGHTNESS TESTING
8.1 Roof
8.1.1 Test Plan
Design-Builder shall submit a Testing Plan to the Owner's Representative that sets forth detailed
step-by-step descriptions of the procedures that will be used by the Design-Builder to demonstrate
that the installed roof system is water tight.Test plan shall be submitted at least 30 days prior to
Initiating the tests. At a minimum, test plan shall address:
• Methods for sealing vents prior to the test
• Methods for applying water to the roof, including access hatches and connection points to
the existing clearwell,to simulate intense precipitation conditions typical of the area (i.e.a
50-year event)
• Characteristics of rainfall event to be simulated
• Criteria for repair and re-testing
• Notification of City and testing schedule
The test plan shall be reviewed and approved by the Owner's Representative prior to conducting the
test.
8.1.2 Conduct of Tests
Design-Builder shall not initiate tests until clearwell interiors are dry.Testing shall be satisfactorily
completed,as agreed to by Owner's Representative, prior to initiating East Clearwell water-tightness
testing.
Design-Builder shall notify Owner's Representative of each test, and shall allow Owner's
Representative access to the clearwell interior during testing. Design-Builder shall video document
the results of the tests.
If testing results in visible leaks through the roof, including access hatches and connection points,
Design-Builder shall investigate and repair the source of the leaks and re-test until satisfactory.
results are obtained.A visible leak is defined as an observed stream or ongoing drip of water into the
interior of the clearwell.
Nothing in this Article shall waive Design-Builder's warranty obligations under the Contract
Documents.
8.2 Clearwell Leakage
8.2.2 Test Plan
After construction is complete and prior to disinfection, Design Builder shall conduct leakage testing
consistent with the methods used by the City, described in Article 4,Section 4.6.4.
If testing results reveal leakage greater than 1,000 gpd, Design-Builder shall investigate and repair
the source of the leaks and re-test until satisfactory.
City of Everett January 29,2020
Water Filtration Plant East Clearwell Roof Replacement DB Project Supplementary Conditions Page 18
