I
Subsurface Exploration, Geologic Hazard, and
Krebs Property Preliminary Geotechnical Engineering Report
Everett, Washington Project and Site Conditions
Review of the regional geologic map titled Distribution and Description of the Geologic Units
in the Everett Quadrangle, Washington by James Minard (1981) indicates that the area of the
subject site is underlain by Vashon lodgement till. Our interpretation of the sediments
encountered in our explorations is in general agreement with the regional geologic map.
4.2 Hydrology
Slow, spotty ground water seepage was encountered in exploration pit EP-2 at a depth of
approximately 10 feet. Ground water seepage was not encountered in any of the other
explorations accomplished for our study. Due to the limited vertical and horizontal
distribution of the ground water encountered, it is our opinion that this seepage is
representative of perched ground water. Although not encountered in any of our explorations,
it is common in areas underlain by lodgement till for seepage to seasonally accumulate at the
base of the weathered lodgement till sediments. This seepage, known as interflow; occurs
when surface water percolates down through the surficial weathered till sediments and becomes
perched atop the underlying, lower-permeability unweathered till sediments. It is possible that
interflow may periodically accumulate at the site. It should be noted that the occurrence and
level of ground water seepage may vary in response to such factors as changes in season,
precipitation, and site use.
February 13, 2007 ASSOCIATED EARTH SCIENCES,INC.
TJP/!d-KE070023A1-Projects120070023IKEIWP Page 4
