I <br /> 1 Contractor shall diligently pursue the work to the physical completion date within the time <br /> Il 2 specified in the contract. Voluntary shutdown or slowing of operations by the Contractor <br /> 3 shall not relieve the Contractor of the responsibility to complete the work within the time(s) <br /> 4 specified in the contract. <br /> 15 <br /> 6 When shown in the Plans, the first order of work shall be the installation of high visibility <br /> 7 fencing to delineate all areas for protection or restoration, as described in the Contract. <br /> I <br /> 8 9 Installation of high visibility fencing adjacent to the roadway shall occur after the placement <br /> of all necessary signs and traffic control devices in accordance with 1-10.1(2). Upon <br /> 10 construction of the fencing, the Contractor shall request the Engineer to inspect the fence. <br /> 11 No other work shall be performed on the site until the Contracting Agency has accepted the <br /> 12 installation of high visibility fencing, as described in the Contract. <br /> 13 <br /> I14 15 1-08.4(2) Order of Work <br /> New Section 1-08.4(2) is added as follows: <br /> 16 <br /> 17 chic**,18 The Contracting Agency's suggested order of Work is as follows: <br /> 19 <br /> I 20 1. Rucker Avenue shall be the first street in the order of work; <br /> 21 2. All work on Smith Island to Start no earlier than August 1st unless otherwise <br /> 22 discussed and approved by the engineer; <br /> 23 3. All other work to be scheduled at Contractor's discretion with Engineer's approval. <br /> I 24 <br /> 25 The Contractor shall submit a construction sequencing plan for review and approval by the <br /> 26 Engineer prior to the start of construction. The Contractor is encouraged by the Contracting <br /> I 27 Agency to develop their recommended alternative order of Work sequencing plan. The <br /> 28 sequencing plan should minimize impacts and disruptions to schools, businesses, and traffic <br /> 29 and should facilitate efficient construction of the Project. Payment for the preparation of the <br /> I <br /> 30 construction sequencing plan shall be considered incidental to other Bid items. <br /> 31 <br /> 32 <br /> 33 1-08.5.OptionA.RTF <br /> 34 1-08.5 Time for Completion <br /> 35 (November 30, 2018 APWA GSP, Option A) <br /> I 36 <br /> 37 Revise the third and fourth paragraphs to read: <br /> 38 <br /> 39 Contract time shall begin on the first working day following the Notice to Proceed Date. <br /> I 40 <br /> 41 Each working day shall be charged to the contract as it occurs, until the contract work is <br /> 42 physically complete. If substantial completion has been granted and all the authorized <br /> I 43 working days have been used, charging of working days will cease. Each week the <br /> 44 Engineer will provide the Contractor a statement that shows the number of working days: (1) <br /> 45 charged to the contract the week before; (2) specified for the physical completion of the <br /> I 46 contract; and (3) remaining for the physical completion of the contract. The statement will <br /> 47 also show the nonworking days and any partial or whole day the Engineer declares as <br /> 48 unworkable. Within 10 calendar days after the date of each statement, the Contractor shall <br /> I 49 file a written protest of any alleged discrepancies in it. To be considered by the Engineer, <br /> 50 the protest shall be in sufficient detail to enable the Engineer to ascertain the basis and <br /> 51 amount of time disputed. By not filing such detailed protest in that period, the Contractor <br /> 52 shall be deemed as having accepted the statement as correct. If the Contractor is approved <br /> 53 to work 10 hours a day and 4 days a week (a 4-10 schedule) and the fifth day of the week in <br /> I 2020 PAVEMENT MAINTENANCE OVERLAY PAGE 31 OF 79 SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br /> WORK ORDER 3727 FEBRUARY 20,2020 <br />
