NELSON
2. Continuing with the previous comment, Plan 2/S1.1 shows a limited extent of floor grating
and references the mechanical drawings for additional information. The architectural
drawings shall show the/extend of the intended walking surface, including the stairways and
grating panels intended to be temporarily removable. Where panels are intended to be
removable, guards shall be provided. Details for the connection of the grating to the
structural framing shall be provided. See IBC Section 107.2.1.
Please see our response to the item #1
3. The drawings do not include the stairways and intermediate platforms. Elevations, sections,
and details should be provided as needed to clarify the required construction. See IBC
Sections 107.2.1 and 1011.
Please see our response to the item #1.
4. The structure, including the stairways and intermediate platforms, shall be provided with
guards along all walking surfaces. Details for the design of the guards shall be provided in
the construction drawings. See IBC Sections 505.3.3 and 1015.2.
Please see our response to the item #1. As an additional note to supplement the
structural response, please see 6/S3.1 for the guard rail detail.
5. The construction drawings shall require a sprinkler system to be installed on all levels of the
structure. See IBC Section 505.3.2.
The Sprinkler system is a deferred submittal as noted on T1.1 under"separate permit
submittals" and will be tailored to meet the code requirements for every area within
the building, including the mechanical mezzanine.
Please see note#13 added to General Notes on sheet A2.1 stating the sprinkler
system requirements for the mezzanine.
Please see attached structural response letter from ENW Structural Engineers dated December
6, 2018.
We hope this information answers your questions and concerns satisfactorily. Please contact
me to discuss further if you should need additional information or clarification. Thank you for
your attention to this matter.
Respectfully,
a /Amboy/
m
3S
Nadia Azarova, AIA
Nelson/ Formerly Craft Architects
a
•
TerraPower Permit#61810-016 review comments response _ PagP2f+f 2
