ENJ STRUCTURAL
ENGINEERS
Engineers Northwest Inc.,P.S.
December 6, 2018
City of Everett, WA
Public Works Department
3200 Cedar Street Everett,WA 98201
ATT: Drew Martin
RE:
Seaway Center Mechanical Platform Everett,WA
Plan Check Number: B1810-016,First Review
City Comment& Response
Architectural
1. The architectural drawings do not include plan views of the platform levels clarifying the required
construction. As an example, the stairway runs and intermediate platforms are not clear. Other
information may be required to clarify the proposed work. Plans should be provided clarifying the
work to be performed. See IBC Section 107.2.1.
Response: Please see structural drawing set showing the 3D model on general note
sheet as well as plans and elevations showing the location of the stairs.
2. Continuing with the previous comment, Plan 2/S1.1 shows a limited extent of floor grating and
references the mechanical drawings for additional information. The architectural drawings shall
show the extend of the intended walking surface, including the stairways and grating panels
intended to be temporarily removable. Where panels are intended to be removable, guards shall
be provided. Details for the connection of the grating to the structural framing shall be provided.
See IBC Section 107.2.1.
Response: Please see structural plan sheet S1.1 for grating information. The grating
covers the whole area of the platform and will be coordinated by the mechanical
contractor. The grading panels are not intended to be removed as far as we know. The
connection of the grating is per manufacturer's recommendation.
3. The drawings do not include the stairways and intermediate platforms. Elevations, sections, and
details should be provided as needed to clarify the required construction. See IBC Sections 107.2.1
and 1011.
Response: Please see revised structural plans and elevations for these details.
4. The structure, including the stairways and intermediate platforms, shall be provided with guards
along all walking surfaces. Details for the design of the guards shall be provided in the
construction drawings. See IBC Sections 505.3.3 and 1015.2.
Response: Please see revised structural plans, elevations, and 3D model for location of
the guards and connection details.
9725 Third Avenue NEā¢Seattle,WA 98115
206.525.7560.fax 206.522.6698
w -ngineersnw.com
